It's midnight.
Brandi fell asleep in the recliner watching Hotel For Dogs.
Kasi went to bed about an hour ago.
Ryan was in his room, watching television.
Junior was asleep for the night.
The house is dark as I sit here, trying to get my 300 drops before the new day begins. (I just made it! lol)
And the freakin' door bell rings.
Repeatedly.
I sneak a look out the window, and it's an old man I have never seen before. And a younger guy, too. I wake up Junior, because they will not stop ringing the bell. He looks out, and recognizes the guy as a neighbor from across the street, so he answers the door.
The guy wants Junior to either take him to the store to buy beer, and then take him to a motel, or call him a cab to do it. Apparently, the guy lives with his mom, and she doesn't like for him to drink, so he needs to get a motel room for the night to drink. The guy had to be at least 60 years old! I told Junior there was no way that he was driving those guys anywhere, so he called them a cab.
It just kills me that they had the nerve to ring our bell when the house was dark. It's not like we had any lights on, and it looked like we were up. And when you ring the bell and no one answers, don't keep ringing it. Go away.
I know I sound like a broken record, but I want to move so bad! I want to build a house far away from neighbors with dogs and drinking problems. I want to put a high fence around us, and put an alarm on it so no one can get close enough to ring the bell at midnight.
But, I will settle for a nice place, that isn't falling apart, with neighbors who keep their dogs in pens (like the law says they should) and who can drink in their own homes. Is that really too much to ask for?

Can't say I blame you for wanting to move, although you are apparently much nicer than I...I'm pretty sure I would have suggested they get lost before I called the cops :o)
I'm with Jen, I don't think I would have even have done the favor of calling the cab. That was just plain rude on their part. Sounds like they may have already been drinking
When we first moved to this house 14 years ago, this twenty-something guy used to ALWAYS come and knock on our door around one in the morning looking for beer or cigarettes. It turned out his grandmother used to live here and he was normally drunk when he'd show up. Pretty annoying.
Oh, I'm sorry you had that experience. How unpleasant! It sure makes me appreciate my neighbors, as nothing like that has ever happened.
One time I was woken up at night by loud banging at my door. When I checked, it was the police, and they were going door to door to let everyone on my short street know there was a voluntary evacuation going on because of a wildfire in the hills behind us!
That was a few years ago.
