Over the weekend, we went to Walmart.  They had racks and racks of clothes in the back of the store, all marked down to $1.  I picked out a few shirts for Brandi and Kasi, and then two shirts and a pair of pants for myself.  As usual, when we got to the register, I watched everything ring up (Walmart is known for messing up prices). 

Sure enough, one of the shirts rings up for $5.  I point it out to the cashier, who looks at the tag, looks at me, and says,

"I'll give it to you for $3."

Um, what?  I responded, ever so sweetly, with this:

"No.  I found it on the $1 rack, so I want it for $1.  You can call someone over to go back there and check, because there are tons more of the exact same shirt on the rack.  I'll wait." 

Then I smiled.  She didn't.

She did, however, call over the manager, who said to give it to me for $1.  I mean, why would I pay more for something that I know is less money?  That's why it's always best to watch the register.

Party Prep

I have so much to do this week to get ready for Kasi's parties this weekend.  That's right.  I said parties.  Plural.  She is having two.  On Friday night, she is going to have a few girlfriends over for a slumber party, and then on Sunday, we are doing a family party at my mom's house.  Well, it's a family and close friends party on Sunday.  I am super excited for this one, because my mom should have the pool open by then, which means the kids can swim.  Okay, so I'll probably swim too.

Today, August 15, 2009, is a great day to shop at Kmart. Why? Because of the Kmart Bluelight specials going on. They will have over 40 different sales in store, and you can find even more savings online at kmart.com. I was reading through some of the sales, and have got to share two specific deals with you.

First is patio furniture. If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that I have been wanting to find a nice table and chair set to go out by our pool, that way the kids can eat out there and not come inside dripping wet just to have lunch. Today only, Kmart has their furniture marked down 90%! That's right, you didn't read that wrong. Their Patio Furniture is already 70% off, and you can get an extra 20% off during bluelight! I am going to drag Junior down there when he gets home, and hopefully there will be some left, although I am pretty sure it will all be gone. At 90% savings, it's like you're stealing it.

They will also have some great prices on their diamond jewelry. It is also already marked down 70%, and you can get an extra 10% today during the bluelight special sale. I have been debating getting Kasi some "real" jewelry, and this might be the perfect time to invest in something. You can't beat 80% off. Heck, I might just have to buy something for myself. I don't do that often, and sometimes a girl just has to give in and buy herself something pretty.

Have you heard that the Kmart Bluelight specials are back? I remember back in the day when they had the actual blue strobe lights that we located by the sale items. I'm not sure if they do that anymore, but I do know that this is a great way to save money. Finding A Kmart

Last week when we were camping, we needed to find a store to buy some things. Kasi wanted some coloring books and a puzzle, and Brandi broke her only pair of flip flops, so she needed something for her feet. Since we had never driven around the town of Greenwood before, we took off in search of somewhere to shop.

It wasn't long before we found a Kmart. I was excited because it has been a while since we have been in one, because they closed the one closest to us. As we walked in the door, an employee handed us a list of Kmart Bluelight specials and asked us if we were interested in applying for a Kmart credit card. New Lean Cuisine Varieties

I was in the grocery store the other day, and I noticed there were some new varieties of Lean Cuisine. I was so excited to see that there were two new paninis. I have been eating their paninis ever since they came out, and their grilled chicken club has always been my favorite. I am looking forward to trying their new mango chicken tikka, which is the one in the picture. Looks yummy, doesn't it? Try not to get too jealous, but I live near the Stouffer's factory, and their outlet store. Junior and I go once a year and stock up our freezer, saving so much money. You all know how much I love to save money.

How cute is this tablecloth? I love it! It screams spring and happiness. It is Walmart's Oblong Flower Vinyl Tablecloth, and it will fit my kitchen table perfectly.

Now, I can not believe that tomorrow it is August. Where did the last two months go? It seems like only yesterday that the kids were finishing school for the year, and now they are getting ready to go back. In fact, they only have about two full weeks of vacation left. I am not looking forward to the early mornings, but I am looking forward to having some time to myself. It has been too long since I have been alone, and I am going to enjoy it.

I am hoping that I can find some good back to school specials tomorrow at Kmart. I know Kasi and Brandi are interested in wearing jewelry this year. I'm not sure how I feel about Brandi wearing any, but Kasi is definitely at that age where she wants to fit in with her friends, and apparently all the girls are wearing rings and necklaces now. Looking back, I think I was about her age when I got my first piece of "real" jewelry. I am hoping I can find something simple for her, like a ring or bracelet. I am still trying to talk her into getting her ears pierced. I think she would look even more beautiful if she wore some earrings. But, she is afraid, and I refuse to force her. She'll do it when she's ready.

Junior is hoping to find a good deal on a grill. The one we have is great, but he wants something smaller that we can take camping with us. I am sure he will find something, and if he does, he can't complain about me spending money.

Saving Money

I consider myself a thrifty shopper. I never pay full price for meat; I either wait until it goes on sale, or I but it when the store marks it down. This usually happens right before the "good by" date, but I freeze it anyway, so it doesn't matter. Buying meat this way can save you up to $75 off, depending on the store, and sometimes the butcher on duty. We have a good relationship with the meat girl at our local supermarket, and she will usually give us a really good deal if we catch her marking the meats down.

I also like checking out the clearance section. The other day, we found 40oz jars of Skippy Peanut Butter for $2 each. They are normally almost $5 a jar, so we didn't do too bad. I bought the last two that they had. They are good until August4, 2010. We use a lot of peanut butter around my house, so I know it won't go to waste. I love finding holiday sprinkles in the clearance section. I especially love the containers that have five or six different kinds of sprinkles that are usually in the craft section. I won't but them until they are below $1, and I now have a good stockpile of sprinkles for Valentine's Day, Easter, and Christmas.

Bluelight Specials Are Back

We used to have a kmart near us. In fact, it was a super kmart. They had a full grocery store on one side, and a regular kmart on the other. It was always packed, so I don't understand why they closed it down. Now when we want to go to kmart, we have to drive about forty five minutes. Sometimes it is worth it to take advantage of their sales.

Tomorrow, June 25, is one of those days where the drive will be worth it. They have brought back the Kmart Bluelight Specials, and there will be saving all through the store. I am especially interested in their patio furniture and grills. I would love to find a nice table and chair set to put under the shade tent by the pool. I know the kids would love to be able to eat outside, and right now it's a little hard because we don't have a table. I am hoping to find a great deal, because we are running a little low on cash.

Chicken At Food Lion

I just found a great price on chicken tenders.

Normally $4.89 a pound.

On sale for $1.69 a pound.

I bought four packs, averaging about $1.55 each.

Not bad, if I do say so myself.

Oh, I also got a 3.33 pound london broil for $6.63.

They were on sale for $1.99 a pound.

I am going to slice that baby up tomorrow might, and kabob it with peppers and onions to go on the grill.

Sandals

I just posted about the great deal I found today on winter shoes, and now I am going to share with you a great deal on summer shoes. I wanted shoes that were a little dressy, but not too fancy, because I'm not a fancy kind of girl. What do you think of these cute little sandals? I found them at amiclubwear.com, and they are their Black Stud Patent T Strap Open Toe Flat Sandal. Wow, that was a mouthful. I found them in their clearance section, and they are only $9.99. I found a lot of other cute stuff too, and their prices are very reasonable. I am tempted to get a few pairs, because they offer free shipping in the United States for orders over $50. If I shopped in their clearance section only, I could get five pairs of shoes for $50. Or, if I shopped in their regular, non-clearance section, I could get two or three pairs for $50 because their prices are that reasonable. Most of their every day sandals are under $20 a pair, some as low as $12.99. Now that Kasi is wearing adult sized shoes, I could get her a few pairs too. In fact, since our feet are almost the same size, we could probably share shoes. I guess that means twice as many pairs of shoes for me.

I like being a girl.

I know I have mentioned this before, but it's worth talking about again. From now until April 18th, Sears is offering between 75% and 80% off all fall and winter apparel. This sale is good online and in store, so even if there isn't a Sears near you, you can still take advantage of this great sale. I found this really cute red sweater for $8.99. It was originally $54.00. Not bad, huh?

I usually gravitate towards black tops. I think it's because I have always been told that black makes you look thinner. You all know I will do anything to look thinner! But since my breast reduction, I have been trying to buy shirts in different colors. I am not a big fan of pastels. I prefer bright colors. Blue is one of my favorites, and lately I have been wearing red. I know some people don't look good in red, but I think I do. I always feel happy when I wear red. I think they've done studies about that, how colors can effect your moods. I'm trying to remember if red was the one that made you happy, but I can't remember. I guess it doesn't really matter. It makes me happy, and that's what's important.

I Am So Excited!

Hubby and I decided to go to wal-mart after breakfast this morning. I needed to get batteries. I found really cute hannah montanna bra/panty sets for the girls marked down to $3.50, so I got one for each of the girls for Christmas. We got to the register, and they rang up for $3.00! Yay! But no batteries. So wehaed to Dollar General, and find glow things for 90%off. Yup, I got all those for $.10 each, and they are PERFECT for our upcoming Halloween party! I bought every one they had. We spent less than $2.50, and walked out with 17 necklaces, and 7 packs of bracelets, which have 2 each, so 14 bracelets. Not too bad if i do say so myself!
