Who Wants To Know Me Better?

I love getting awards!  Thanks Silvergirl for thinking of me!
The Rules:

1. Thank and link back the person who gave you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 great bloggers you know.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.

Now, you all know so much about me, and I really can not think of anything new to share.  So, I did what every good blogger would do and put a shout out on Facebook for my lovely friends to ask me seven questions I would answer about myself.   And they sure did ask some good questions!  Here we go:
1.  What form of birth control do you use?

Well, I don't use any.  We are leaving things up to God, but that's not saying we aren't careful.  I am pretty good at knowing exactly when I'm ovulating, so we avoid doing anything during that time.  It's worked for the past 9 years, so we must be doing something right.

2.  If you were to have another child and it was healthy, what sex would you want it to be?

This is an easy one for me...I would want a girl.  Truth be told, I was so upset when I found out Ryan was a boy.  I wanted a girl so bad, but God knew better than me, and I am so glad he gave me Ryan.  I can not explain how much I love my son...it's different then the way I love my girls.  It's not more or less, just different.  That said, I don't think I could do another boy...all the hyperactivity and struggling so much with school and the attitude!  Oh my.  But, there will not be anymore babies, especially since Brandi says she will give it away because she needs to stay the youngest.

3.  Have you ever smoked ? If you have, what brand did you smoke, how many packs a day. Have you quit and when ?

I did smoke for many years.  I didn't start smoking until I was 18 years old and almost out of high school.  I smoked until I was about 7 months pregnant with Brandi, and I was smoking about a pack a day.  Yes, I smoked through all of my pregnancies, and I am convinced that that contributed to Ryan's ADHD issues.  I smoked Marlboro Lights.  This past October was 9 years since I quit, and to be honest, I have never even craved a cigarette since.  I am also the worst when it comes to smoking now.  The smell makes me sick!  Bob started smoking again after his dad died, and I HATE the way he smells these days.

4.  What is your favorite time of the day and why?

I actually have two favorite times of the day.  I love the few hours after the kids get on the bus in the morning.  I usually go back to bed until 10am, and it's the best sleep I get all week.  I go to bed most nights about 1am, get up at 2:15am to get Bob to work, then again at 5:15am to get the kids off to school.  I lay back down around 7am, and those 3 hours of sleep are heavenly.  I also love the couple of hours before the kids go to bed at night.  Homework is finished, baths are taken, and we usually either play a game together or lay in my bed and watch a little television.  During this time, I don't think about all the blogging I have to do or whether or not the dishes are done.  This is my time to spend with the kids, and they deserve my undivided attention.

5,  If you could move anywhere... anywhere... where would if be and why ?

Wow.  To be honest, I wouldn't want to go anywhere.  I would love to move into a house we own, but I would want that to be close to where we now live.  My parents live close by, as well as my brother and one of my sisters.   I love my family, and I want my kids to grow up with their cousins.  Some of my favorite memories of growing up involve my aunt and cousins, and I want the same for my kids.

6.  Do you wear a wedding ring?

Yup.. I put it on almost 16 years ago, and it's never been off my finger, except when my fingers swelled so bad when I was pregnant and it was cutting off the circulation to my finger.  Wanna see it?
Pretty, right?

7.  Why don't I drive?

This is a tough one, because I never sound sane when I explain this.  First let me say that I know it's irrational, I know it makes me sound crazy, but I have comes to term with that long ago, and you should too. :) When I became of driving age, I was never pushed to get my license.  My parents were going through a tough time back then, so it wasn't a priority.  I had friends who drove, and I worked at a McDonald's that was close enough to walk to, so that is what I did whenever I didn't have a ride.  I had a boyfriend back then who tried to teach me, but that didn't work out well.  He had me drive his car, which was a manual transmission, and as I was going down a busy street, I got a little freaked out and wanted to stop.  He told me I couldn't just hit the brake, but he wouldn't tell me what I did need to do to stop.  That freaked me out!  Then when I first met my husband, he tried to teach me.  I drove with a permit for a while (always with him in the car), and then one day, there was a spider on the dashboard.  I asked him to kill it, and he wouldn't, so I grabbed a soda bottle and started going after it, completely forgetting that I was driving the car.  I swerved off the road and hit a mailbox.  Thankfully, I swerved back onto the road (I don't know how I didn't over-correct and wreck the car...God was most definitely looking after us that day), but that did it for me.  I was very pregnant with Ryan at the time, and all I could think of was how I would have killed him if I had wrecked the car.  For the past 15 years, I have been living with that fear...of killing one of my kids if I wreck, that I become paralyzed with fear just thinking about driving.  I am also really careful about who my kids ride with.  Like I said, I know this is irrational, but it's me.  Oh, and since I am not a fan of being in public anyway, not driving doesn't normally bother me.  I don't mind being at home, that's why this whole blogging for money thing is perfect for me.  It's also why I am still slightly freaked out about this whole Bank Of America shoot.

Thanks to Dawn and Diana for the great questions!  I am passing this award to the both of you!

The Versatile Blogger ~ That's Me!

My sweet friend Jeannette passed this award along to me.

As per the rules of accepting this award, here are seven facts you may not know about me:

This is getting hard to do, because I am such an open book! lol!
1. I drink way too much soda.  I prefer the store brands of diet sprite, and drink it from the time I wake up until I go to bed at night.  I can go through 2 2-liter bottles a day sometimes.

2. In October, it will be 9 years since I quit smoking.  I'm pretty proud of that.

3.  I love watching shows my kids watch, like Victorious, iCarly, and Wizards. (not Hannah Montana, though.  I seriously hate her)  I sometimes watch when the kids aren't even home.

4.  I think I'm pretty.  Weird, right?  I know I have weight to lose, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm kinda cute.

5.  That said, I hate my smile.  I think my mouth is way too small for my face, and my teeth are all crooked.  In most pictures I am either serious, or smirking.

6.  I have recently started doing reviews on this blog, and I am getting completely overwhelmed, but I am loving the free stuff!  I have a few pretty cool giveaways coming up, and some pretty nice reviews.

7.  Being the mom of three kids, I have realized that I love each of them the same amount, but in different ways.

This is the part where I am supposed to pass this along to other bloggers, but you all know that I hate doing that.  Whenever I do, most of the people don't ever acknowledge it, so why bother?  If you want this award, and you are special to me, go ahead and grab it.

I'm A Beautiful Blogger ~ Like You Didn't Already Know That

Thank you Fhaye from Living and Wellness for passing this award on to me.

• Thank and link to the person that gave you the award.
• Pass this award onto 10 bloggers you’ve recently discovered and think are fantastic.
• Contact said Blogs and let them know they’ve won
• State 7 things about yourself

1.  Most of you know that I collect elephants, but you probably don't know that I also have a small collection of carousel horses.
2.  I let fear hold me back a lot...there are things I would love to do, but I am too afraid to try.
3.  I am not a good housekeeper.  At all.  I hate cleaning, especially mopping the floors.  That's why I make the kids do it. :)
4.  I love watching scary movies with my 13 year old daughter.  In fact, as soon as I finish this, we are going to watch Saw VI.
5.  I am starting to panic about not having started Christmas shopping...it's less than 4 months away!
6.  I would rather eat chocolate and peanut butter instead of vegetables...and yes, I know that makes me about three years old but I don't care.
7.  I really hate having to list things about myself.

Wow.  I am supposed to pass this along to 10 bloggers, but I just don't have the time right now.  So what I want you to do is leave me a comment telling me about a blog (or blogs) that you read, that you think I should be reading, too.  I am all about making new friends!

I Have One Lovely Blog

My sweet friend Stacey from All Stace, All The Time passed this award along to me.  I love getting awards, too, so this made my day!  Thanks Stacey!

The rules for this award are as follows:
1.  thank and link back to the person that gave you the award.
2.  share 7 things about yourself.
3.  pass the award to 7 fellow bloggers that inspire you.
4.  let them know about the award.

Okay, so now I have to share seven things about me...hmmm.....

1.  I love having my toenails painted, but I hardly ever paint my fingernails.

2.  I have never had a professional mani/pedi, but Kasi gives me mani/pedis all the time, and they rock!

3.  I am one of those moms who go back to bed once the kids are safely on the school bus.  Don't judge me. :)

4.  I can not remember the last time I went to bed before 2:30am.  I am hoping this will change a little when school starts back.

5.  I am an extremely loyal friend, and I expect the same in return.

6.  My kids have the kind of relationship with my mom that I wish I had had with my grandparents.

7.  I can watch the same movie over and over for weeks at a time if it's one of my favorites.

Now I get to pass this along to seven blogs that inspire me....this is going to be hard only picking seven...

Crystal from the sounds of laughter
Jenn from believe the impossible
Jeanette from a hippo with a headband
Diana from forgetfulone
Lydia from still on the verge
Tammy from crazy mom with 4 boys
Tammy from mom knows everything

I can't wait to read what these seven people write as their 7 things!

Sunshine Award

One of my favorite people, Lydia, gave me this award.  Her blog, Still On The Verge, is one of the blogs I read every day.

Display the award on your blog, thank and link back to the person that gave it to you and pass it on to 12 (or 9 lol!) other deserving bloggers. I would like to pass this on to the following blogs:

Diana @ Forgetfulone

Can You Spot The Lie?

Diana tagged me for this last week, so I figured I needed to get one the ball!

The rules are as follows:
- thank the person who gave you the award
- copy the logo and place it on your blog
- link to the person who nominated you
- tell up to six outrageous lies about yourself and at least one outrageous truth, or vice-versa
- nominate seven "creative" writers
- post links to the blogs you nominated

Okay, so here are my "truths".  Can you spot the lie?

1.  I hate talking on the phone.  In fact, if I know I have to call someone I am not used to speaking with, I have a mini panic attack.  A few of my favorite bloggers have even send me their phone numbers with an invitation to call them, and it completely freaked me out.

2.  I have eaten cat poop.  I can only assume I thought it was a tootsie roll.

3.  I will eat anything.  In fact, one of my favorite things to do is try out new, unfamiliar foods.

4.  I don't drive.  I have never had my license and probably never will, unless something happens to my husband and I have no other choice but to drive myself.  I have a very irrational fear of getting in an accident, and something happening to my kids.  I would never be able to forgive myself.  I know, I'm crazy.

5.  I had a breast reduction, and the doctor removed 15 pounds of breast tissue.  I am now a new, more confident woman.

6.  I collect elephants.  I have around 300 in my collection right now, and I can tell you where each one came from.

7.  I hate the movie Halloween.  The original one, not the remake.  This is weird because my daughter and I are scary movie buffs, and watch them every chance we get.  There is just something about Michael Myers that scares the crap out of me.  And that music?  Too creepy.

Okay, so do you think you know me well enough to spot the lie?

At this point I am supposed to nominate other bloggers to do this, but I am going to leave that up to you.  If you do decide to play along, let me know and I'll give you some link love!

Last Tuesday was awards day at Brandi's school, and she racked up!

This first one is for being caring and respectful:

The second one is for reading:
This third one is for being on the Honor Roll for the last semester:
This fourth one is for being great at subtraction:
(we really need to work on multiplication this summer...she is having a hard time with this...any suggestions?)
This last one is probably the one I am most proud of her for: having the highest overall average in her class:
Great job Boo!  I am so proud of you!

Beautiful Blogger Award!

Beth Larrabee over at Musing Mainiac passed this beautiful blogger award on to me, and I am honored. Thank you again for thinking of me!

The rules are:

1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award and insert a link to their blog.

2. Pass on the award to about 15 other bloggers who you recently discovered and think are great!

Now for the hard part. I have been out of the blogging loop for a few weeks now, and I haven't been keeping up with my blog reading. So, I am going to break the rules above and pass this along to whoever visits my blog today! Know that you are all appreciated, and take this award as a token of myfriendship.

Homer Awards

As most of you know, Junior works at The Home Depot. Right now he is an inventory specialist, and before that he was a sales associate. The job he does now does not require him to constantly interact with the customers, but when someone asks him a question, he does have to help them.

Now, when a customer feels like he did a good job, they can call, or speak to a manager personally, to praise him. Every time this happens, he is given a badge, or a Homer Award, as they call it. Every time he gets three badges, he gets a $50 bonus.

Well, last month, Junior got his 12th homer award. This is apparently a big deal, and instead of a bonus, he got a watch. A really nice watch. There's a picture of it.

And Junior being Junior, as soon as he brought it home, he went online to see how much it cost. I laughed when he couldn't find it online.

I want him to wear it, but he doesn't like to. He says it is too heavy, and that it is too loose. I did talk him into having it sized, and then trying to wear it. I mean, it is a really nice watch, and I hate for it to just sit in the box. I want him to enjoy it.

But, if he doesn't want to wear it, I will put it up for him. He may not think it is a big deal, but I think it is an awesome accomplishment for him.

Lady Antebellum!

Okay, so I am watching the CMA's. Most of you know I have an unhealthy crush on Keith Urban, and that I despise his wife.

You also know I have a really unhealthy crush on Sugarland, mostly because there are two of them, and one is a girl. In reality, I love Kristian and want to be Jennifer.

My newest obsession is lady Antebellum. Those who know me know this already. I think they are awesome!

Watching the CMA's right now, it seems I am not their only fans. They have won both the awards they were nominated for. That is freakin' AWESOME! If you don't know who they are, goolge them and listen to something they sing. You will become fans, too.

Oh, and it's pretty cool to me that they, as in Lady Antebellum, are one of my 30 or so followers on twitter. That's right, they are following me. Since I only get on there once every few months, I can't see what they are interested in me, but I love it. (since I don't know much about twitter, I could be all excited over nothing, but I still think it's pretty cool)

And I love them!!!!!

Watching The CMA's

Are any of you watching this? Brad and Carrie are cracking me up!

I am so proud of Lady Antebellum for winning single of the year! I love them...they are awesome!

Who is your favorite for Entertainer of the Year????

A Strong Cup Of Coffee

I got this award from Stacey last week, and finally found the time to post it. I am the worst at this lately. Some amazing people have given me awards, and I have forgotten all about posting them here. If you are one of those people, I apologize. Please find it in your hearts to forgive me, and I promise to do better in the future. :)

Now, make sure you go and check out Stacey's blog, All Stace, All The Time. I have been reading her blog for a while now, and it is a little freaky the things we have in common. We are both from NY and have been in the south for about the same amount of time. How weird is that? She lives close enough that one day we could plan a get together, maybe meeting somewhere in the middle.

Anyway, on with the award.

So here are the rules with this baby: This award is for having a blog good enough to wake you up in the morning and keeping you going all day! I need to give this award to 7 different blogs that I think are blogs that keep you going:

Seven people, huh? Let's see....

LaShan @ a lil enchanted
tammy @ mom knows everything
kat @ candles, crafts, and whatnot
miss donna @ made in heaven
tammy @ crazy mom with 4 boys
jenera @ just me
vixen @ vixen's den

There you go ladies! You each rock, and I hope you enjoy passing this along!

A Ripple Or A Splash?

I love this award I got from Tammy, at Crazy Mom With 4 Boys. I also love Tammy. She is the sweetest, kindest blogger I have ever met. She is always leaving the nicest, most supportive comments on not just my blog, but everyone's. (we have a few friends in common, so I know she is sweet to everyone) I admire her for keeping her sanity raising four boys. I have one, and there are times I want to throttle him...I couldn't imagine having four! lol!

Okay, so I am going to steal what she wrote:

If you were a drop of liquid, as you hit the surface of another liquid that was smooth and unmoving, would you make a ripple or a splash? I apparently have made a splash and I am really happy about it! I feel very special, humble and grateful.

Of course there are rules:

Put the logo on your blog/post
Nominate and link up to 9 blogs which allure, amuse, bewitch, impress or inspire you.
Let them know that they have been splashed by commenting on their blog.
Remember to link the person from whom you received your Splash Award.

Wow. Nine people who have splashed me, huh? Okay, here goes:

Jennifer @ A Sample Of Jennifer's Thoughts
Anna @ Beth & Cory's Mom
Diana @ Forgetfulone
Jenera @ Just Me
Donna @ Made In Heaven
Christy @ Motherhood Unscripted
Carrie @ Rantings Of A Woman
Jenn @ Crazy Magic, Sometimes Hectic, Beautiful Life
Tammy @ A Little Girl Talk

Most Inspirational Blog Award

Here's another award I got from A Lil Enchanted.

Most inspirational...that's pretty cool.
In deciding who to pass this along to, I have come to realize that some of my favorite bloggers are no longer blogging. I am thankful that a while ago we moved from fellow bloggers to friends, and we still stay in touch through email and, of course, that evil time sucking machine called Facebook.

I am going to pass this to some of my closest, and longest, (blog) friends, and also to some of my newer (blog) friends. All of them I find to be strong, amazing women.

I put the () around friends, because although we met through our blogs, these woman are my friends. Just friends.

Anyway, here they are:
Tammy @ Mom Knows Everything
Kat @ Candles, Crafts, and Whatnot
Stacey @ All Stace, All The Time
Tammy @ Crazy Mom With 4 Boys
Vicki @ Frugal Mom Knows Best
Vixen @ Vixen's Den

Friends Award

My newish friend LaShan over at A Lil Enchanted (how cool is that blog name?) gave me this award. If you don't know her blog, take the time to check it out. She is awesome!

I am supposed to pass this along, so I want everyone who stops by today to grab it. We are all friends, and I love you all! :)

My Terrific Kid, For The Third Year In A Row

Brandi brought home another Terrific Kid award today. Every month, one kid from each class is chosen to receive the award. It is given to the students in recognition of demonstrating a positive attitude, good character, and responsible citizenship. This is the third year in a row that Brandi has gotten this award. I think it is going to her head, because she is dancing around the house singing, "Oh yeah! I won again! Oh yeah!".

Elite Blog Artist Award

Look what I got! It's another award from one of my favorite people in the whole wide world, Kat. She has a couple of blogs, Candles, Crafts, And Whatnot and Soy Wax Candle Blog. She also runs an online magazine, The Angels Weekly. She is one talented lady, and is an absolutely wonderful friend.

Thanks for thinking of me, Kat!

I should pass this along, but I'm not going to. I don't have the energy to do any more links. If you like it, want it, need it...whatever...consider it yours!

It's A Major Award

Look what I got from Kat! According to her, this award is for anyone who likes to smile and/or laugh, and just generally spreads that along in this blogging world we all travel in.

I definitely try to make everyone who visits this little blog smile, at least a little. I have even been known to make some people lol, or at least that's what they tell me.

I am supposed to pass this along, but I am so tired right now, and don't feel like doing all the links, so....if you are reading this, consider this award yours!
