I am so tired of seeing posts on Facebook about how fast Christmas is approaching this year. I am completely stressed out about it! I have very little money to get my kids gifts, which means that, once again, I will not be getting anything for anyone else. This fact breaks my heart, because I love giving gifts on Christmas. I will probably end up making a bunch of cookie tubs to give out.
My lack of money has a bright side, though. I will not have to spend time trying to figure out what to get people. Some people are easy to buy for. Take myself, for instance. Buy me an elephant and I am one happy girl. I don't need Tibetan Singing Bowls or scented candles, though I would love those things, too. My mom is easy to buy for. Every year I hit up Black Friday sales and buy her some dvd's. She has quite a collection, and by adding to it, I increase the number of movies I have to pick from when I raid her collection.

It's That Time Of Year
Did you know that there is less than four months left until Christmas Day? Yeah, I am stressing out just a little bit about that. Last year, my kids didn't have much under the tree, and I don't want this year to be the same. I want to be able to get them everything they want, but deep down, I know that just isn't possible. Ryan and Kasi are getting too old for toys. They want expensive electronics. I caught Ryan checking out Geek Magazine the other day, and he was drooling over some of the gadgets on there.
He already has a laptop, and I would love to be able to get both of my girls their own, but even with a million Apple promo codes I couldn't afford it before Christmas. Last year, when I got my tax refund, I gave each of the kids $100 to spend however they wanted. All three of them bought cell phones. This year, I think I might just get the girls their laptops instead of handing them cash. I'm just hoping that after I pay for my divorce and buy a new car there is money left over.
Until then, I am going to try and do a little shopping here and there when I have some extra cash. I plan on doing some shopping online, and using a Target promo code or two to save some money. All I need first is a list of things my kids want for Christmas that I may actually be able to afford.

Clothes
I am not a good shopper, especially when it comes to clothes. It used to be because I really could not fit into a lot of things because of my huge chest. After my breast reduction, everything I tried on made me look pregnant, because I was so fat. Now that I have lost almost one hundred pounds, clothes fit me better, but I am not a good judge of what looks good on. For instance, I can love a top on someone else, but if I were to see it in the store, I would probably overlook it because, well, I don't know why. I like solid colors, not prints. I guess you could say my taste is kind of boring. I used to wear a lot of black, and while I do have some black tops and pants, I am gravitating more towards brown nowadays.
I know when people look at me, they are judging me by what I am wearing. Maybe not on a conscience level, but I was once told that the way you dress influences the way other people treat you. I didn't use to believe that, but now I kind of do. I know that now that I am dressing better, I have more confidence. Feeling better about myself makes me friendlier towards people, which in turn makes them friendlier towards me. Maybe it has more to do with my new found confidence than my outward appearance, but who knows.
I can always tell when my boss has a meeting to go to by the way he dresses each day. If he shows up in jeans and a tshirt, I know he's doing deliveries like me. If he is wearing one of his custom made suits, I know he will be going to some type of meeting. I'm glad that I can show up for work in shorts and a nice top, no matter what my day has in store. While LS Mens Clothing looks great on, I am sure even my boss is more comfortable in his jeans, especially now that it is so hot outside.
I am excited to lose the rest of this weight so that I can go out and try to find new clothes to buy. I may have to take a couple of my girlfriends with me, because like I said, I am not good at picking things out.

Out Of School For Summer
I can not believe the kids are already out of school for the summer. This year is going by so fast! I have a feeling that Christmas is going to sneak up on us before we know it. Last year, I wasn't able to get the kids much, because I was short on money. I do not want that to happen again this year. They insisted that what I was able to afford was more than enough, and I know they meant it, but I want to do better this year. That means I need to start shopping now.
Each of my kids have different tastes. Brandi is my girly girl. She loves to wear dresses and have her hair done "just right" every single day. She is very picky when it comes to her clothes. I bet if I could find some louben dresses in her size she would be in heaven. She also loves earring and necklaces. For the past few years, I have made sure that there was at least one of each of those things under the tree, especially ladybug themed ones. The kids loves ladybugs.
Kasi is more of a jeans and tshirt kind of girl. In fact, that is what you will find her in everyday. She has a bad habit of always wearing a jacket, too. This drives me crazy, because even though it has been ninety degrees outside, she still insists on wearing jackets. Maybe she will find a windbreaker lightweight or two under the tree this year.
Ryan is going to be easy to shop for. He recently dropped his brand new cell phone, which I paid a pretty good sum of money for, into the creek. I was able to get him a new phone, but it was the cheapest one the store carried. I know he wants a more sophisticated phone again, so that is a priority for me. It won't be an android or an iphone, because they are not supported by my carrier, but it will be something similar to one of those. I wonder if a marc by marc jacob wristlet for iphone 4s would work on whatever I get him?
All I know is that if I start shopping now, I may be able to have a good bit of things for each of them when Christmas rolls around.

My Tips For Saving Money
I am not a great coupon user. Honestly, whenever I try to clip coupons, I find myself spending more money than I normally would. I think it's because I feel like if I have a coupon for something, I must use it, even if it is on a product I wouldn't normally buy. For instance, I don't usually buy candy, but if I have a coupon, I will buy it simply because it is for a great price. Not only do I end up spending more money, it's money spent on something I not only don't normally buy, but something I don't need.
So, I am going to share with you some of the ways I save money, without using coupons.
Know The Prices Of The Things You Buy Most
This is a big one for me. I do a big grocery shopping trip once a month, and then stop in again for things like milk and bread when we run out. I do make a list ahead of time for the things we have run out of, like sugar and cereal, but when it comes to specifics like meal planning, I wait to see what is on sale. I have gotten really good at knowing the prices of the things I buy regularly, which makes it easy for me to determine if a sale at one store is cheaper then buying the same thing at a different store.
Buy What Is On Sale
I love BOGO's. I have been known to have twenty boxes of Mac & Cheese in my pantry at one time, simply because I found a great sale. Stocking up on things that don't go bad when they are on sale is a great idea, especially when you can find several different ways to use them. For instance, most people think of Mac & Cheese as a side dish, but if you get creative, you can use it in casseroles too, making it part of the main dish, too.
Only Buy Marked Down Meat
This one is a must for me, especially when it comes to chicken. We only eat boneless, skinless breasts, so when I find it on sale, I have been known to buy every package in the display case. Just last month, I bought 24 packs of chicken strips in one trip. I have many different recipes, which helps us not tire of eating chicken every night. I find that stores usually mark down their meat a day or two before the "sell by" date, and some stores will even let you know what time of day they do it so you can plan your shopping trip accordingly. Buying meat that is marked down is fine as long as you use it that day, or freeze it.

I have a store right around the corner from my house that offers different "meal deals" every week. Most times, you simply buy one main ingredient (which is usually a frozen entree of some sort, like pizza, pasta, or chicken) and get three or four side items for free. Most of the time, the free itmes total more than the main ingredient costs, so it is a great buy.

Let's All Support Local Businesses
I work for a man who owns a small business. You all know that I drive a delivery van, but I don't think I've ever talked much about what I actually do. In the mornings, I deliver mail to several local businesses. These are small businesses, and unfortunately, a few that I used to deliver to have gone out of business over the last year. In the afternoon, I revisit each business and pick up mail that I then drop off at the post office before going home. In between my mail routes, I deliver between businesses. I really do love my job, mostly because for most of the day, it is just me and my radio. I love cranking up my favorite songs and singing along at the top of my lungs. People I pass must think I'm insane as they see me dancing in my seat, but I don't care. It makes the day go by faster.
I wish more people would Support Local Business owners and not shop so much in the big chain stores. I am guilty of spending most of my paycheck at Walmart every week, but when it comes to finding one of a kind gifts, or jewelry, I try and buy handmade things. I love etsy, and try to search out artists who are from my area. I did a lot of my Christmas shopping the past two years online, buying handmade things. I would rather spend a little more on something that I know was made with love. In fact, I bought my mom the cutest potholders last year, and they were about ten times more expensive than what I would have paid in a chain store, but I considered it money well spent because I was helping to support a local mom who was trying to help support her family.
I guess my point is, we all need to be more supportive of local small businesses.

I Need New Everything
I can not tell you how excited I am that it is tax time. Some people dread this time of year, but not me. In years past, my ex and I have done well when it comes to our refund, and I expect to do just as well this year. I don;t make a lot of money, and it's hard enough for me to pay my bills every month, let alone splurge on things for the kids. It is usually February when I buy them new clothes and shoes and all the other things I can't afford during the year.
Just because I have money to spend doesn't mean I spend it freely. I still refuse to pay full price for anything, and I scour the stores for sales. This year I am going to spend some money on new clothes for myself. I don't wear a uniform to work (though I do have some company sweatshirts) and I like to look nice. I no longer need pants with elastic waistbands, so jean shopping should be fun. I also need new shoes. My sneakers have holes in the bottoms, so when it rains I walk around all day with wet feet.
This is also the time of year we all get new socks and underwear. This may be too much information, but I haven't bought new underwear since I have lost all this weight, and the ones I wear are way too big. I am looking forward to buying some that will fit properly. Of course, I will try and find a hanes coupon or two to help save me some money. I also need new bras. I haven't bought a "real" bra since my surgery. I have only worn sports bras. I am looking forward to buying something lacy and sexy. The only bras that used to fit me didn't come in any color other than white, so I'm hoping to find something black that fits. Or maybe even something purple. Or flowery. Who knows. It will be fun to have choices.
I promised the kids that I will give them each one hundred dollars when I get my refund to make up for the very small Christmas we had, so they have been planning how they will spend their money. Kasi Broke My Couch
A few weeks ago, Kasi broke my couch. She went to sit down, lost her balance, and fell, plopping down hard onto the couch. Unfortunately, the bottom of the couch gave out and she ended up sitting almost completely on the floor. I am now going to have to do some furniture shopping, and I can not tell you how difficult it is to make a decision. The couches I have found that I really love do not go with my current furniture at all, which means I will have to buy all new end tables and a new coffee table.
I love the modern sofa bed in the picture above. Can you believe that is a futon? There are several reasons why I will never own this particular piece of furniture. First, it's white and I have kids. They are older, but they still spill things and make messes, so it would never stay white long. Second, my end tables are wood, and the feet on this futon are metal. Not a good combination in my book. And third, as comfortable as it looks, I want something that has arms. I need somewhere to rest my mouse for my laptop. I hate having to use the finger pad, if that is even what it is called.
I am going to have to do a bit more browsing before making a final decision, but I wil let you know what I buy once I buy it.

Last Minute Shopping
Christmas is a week from tomorrow. Seriously, people, how did that happen? Where did this past year go?
I am not even close to being done with my Christmas shopping. I haven't gotten a thing for anyone but my kids. A lot of that has to do with my not having any money. I also have no idea what to get anyone this year. I still have to get a few things for Ryan, and I'm not even sure what else he wants. It is so much easier for me to shop for my girls. I don't want to ask Ryan for a list, because now that he is 16, he is asking for things like a car and Sea Ray boat tops.
I feel bad that I didn't get anything for my nieces and nephews. I will have a little extra money this week to do some last minute shopping, but I am going to spend it on my kids. I still need to get stuff for their stockings. I am usually done with my shopping my the beginning of November, so having to shop on Christmas Eve is going to be interesting.
I hope I make it out of Walmart alive!

Looking Nice
I see a therapist every other Wednesday. I have been seeing her alone since my husband left. Before that, we used to see her together. When I saw her this past Wednesday she asked me if I had lost more weight. Honestly, I haven't been on the scale in a couple of weeks so I have no idea if I have or not. What I do know is that I am feeling confident these days, which means I am putting an effort into how I look when I go to work every day. It used to be that I wore sweat pants and tshirts all the time, and it had been years, many, many years since I have bothered with makeup. Now, I like looking nice.
The problem, now that it is getting colder, is that none of my winter clothes fit properly, because I have lost so much weight since last year. I still wear a plus size dress, only now I am not so much of a plus. I hope one day to lose the rest of this weight so I won't have to wear plus sized clothes anymore. For now, though, I need to find something nice to wear for Christmas. I want to have a picture taken of the kids and I that I can frame, and I want to look pretty. I usually wear black, but I want to find something with a little color.
I wonder what color would look good on me and say Christmas?

Christmas

Shopping Virtual Malls
I am fairly new to online shopping. I am not a fan of shopping in general, because crowded stores kind of freak me out. I am not one of those people who feels the need to have the latest and best of everything. I refuse to stand in line just to have the latest phone or whatever. I would much rather sit at home with my computer and shop online. I can ever do it in my pajamas!
There are so many virtual stores to shop in, and people are opening their own stores every day. In fact, you can visit a Virtual Mall and find just about everything you need. You could even open your own store in less than twenty minutes, with very little start up costs. I am going to try really hard to give only handmade gifts this year for Christmas, and those that I can not make myself, I am going to buy online. I would much rather give my money to an individual than a big store.
Last year, I did the majority of my Christmas shopping online, and this year I hope to do the same. I have no time these days to do much of anything, and being able to have the gifts I buy online delivered to my home would be such a time saver. Clothes. I hate the thought have having to shop for new clothes. I don't necessarily have a style, and usually settle just for what fits. These days, that means blue jeans shorts and a cute to. I am trying to steer away from wearing tshirts, especially at work. Eventually, I think my boss might get me some tshirts with the company logo, but for now, I just wear what I have.
I'm not sure if it's just me, but finding cute tops for someone my size can be difficult. I still have a belly, and now that my boobs are smaller, a lot of tops make me look like I am pregnant. But, like I've said before, I find that I am more comfortable these days in tops that fit me, not just drape on me.
Men have it easier, I think. They have places where they can buy Big and Tall Clothing, and lets face it, there are only so many different shirts a guy can wear. They don't have to worry about how their boobs look, if it's too low cut, or not low cut enough. Most guys I know don't even care much about what color they wear.
Once I lose the rest of this weight, I am going to buy myself an entire new wardrobe. And I am going to enjoy finding clothes that fit properly.

Brighter?
I am still on a mission to find myself some clothes. The stuff I have just isn't fitting right anymore, and I feel almost dumpy looking, if that makes any kind of sense at all. I know it is because I am losing weight, and I know I am in that awkward "in between" stage where I shouldn't invest in clothes because I am still losing, but I really want to look nicer.
What to do?
I decided to browse online to see if I could find anything different than what I already own, and I found some cute Michael kors stuff. My problem, according to my best friend, is that I like solid, dark colored clothes, and she thinks I need to wear things that have a little more of a pattern to them and brighter colors.
I got frustrated trying to find clothes, so I ended up looking at pocket books and shoes instead, and check out this awesome cole haan purse I found.
I love the style and the color! I know it's a little plain, but so am I. I also found these stuart weitzman shoes that would totally match the bag.
I wonder if getting these would get my best friend off my back for a while?

Glasses And Clothes
I am exhausted. I need about 14 hours of sleep to feel human again. Or as close to human as I am. Work has been great; I still look forward to it every day. I love the variety every day provides. I never know where I am going to go or what I am going to do, and I really do like that.
The other day I was driving and I realized that my glasses were dirty. I do not recommend taking off your glasses to clean them while you are driving, but that is what I did. Not only were they dirty; they are all scratched up. I think I am going to have to look into getting some new prescription eyeglasses. My only issue is that I don't have any extra money these days. Thankfully, there are places like ZenniOptical that sell glasses for really reasonable prices. Their glasses start at $8, and I have friends who have actually ordered some and they are very satisfied. I know that I would want to get a similar style to what I have now, so I don't have to worry about getting a pair I don't like.
I also need some new summer clothes. All this weight I have lost has my clothes hanging off of me, and I hate the way they look. There is a part of me that thinks I should wait until I am done losing before investing in clothes, which is probably what I will do.

I Want New Undies
These days, I can. In fact, my best friend gave me a very pretty lacy bra with white ruffles ad purple ribbon accents and flowers. I love it. It makes me feel sexy when I wear it, and I haven't felt like that in a long time.
I am actually looking forward to buying all new intimates. Aside from my new lacy bra, the rest of my bras are sports bras, which have absolutely no personality at all. I need some personality. I need black bras and purple bras. I need lacy bras and sexy bras.
I am also loving this thermal tank. It's feminine, yet covers a whole lot of skin. I am needing something to wear under a couple of my low cut sweaters, and I think this would be perfect. I bet it is pretty warm too, since it is a thermal.
Now, all I need is a job so that I can afford to buy myself all of these beautiful things.

I love the idea of this site! My kids are heading back to school in less than a month. I can not believe summer vacation has gone by so quickly, but I am looking forward to getting back into the routine of bedtimes again. There are Buy Now shoes, too, where you can just flat out buy the shoes for the price set by the seller. You can even offer up a swap with another seller, if you have something they want, and they have something you want. I was browsing the site, and the selection is pretty awesome! The only thing I would like to see, but I couldn't find, is the option to search by shoe size.
I will most definitely be using If The Shoe Doesn't Fit to find Kasi a pair of boots for school. She is at that age where shoes from Walmart are no longer cool, but I refuse to pay mall prices for shoes. This site is a great option for finding cool shoes at decent prices.

Why Does This Keep Happening To Me?
I know you guys are probably tired of hearing about my adventures with cashiers, but I just have to share this one, because it is really bugging me. It all started with a trip to our local grocery store. As you know, when I get to the register, I watch to make sure everything rings up correctly. This particular store has a card that they scan so I can get all the sale prices. My biggest pet peeve is when they start ringing up my order before I give them my card, because then the sale prices don't ring up. So as usual, the girls starts ringing me up before she scans my card.
I am watching everything, and notice that my biscuit mix rings up for $2.54 when the shelf had it marked at $2.21. I pointed it out to the cashier, and she says the sale price will come up at the end because she started before scanning my card. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't a sale price, but the shelf price, and she told me, quite rudely, that she would check it out when she finished ringing up my order.
Um, okay. (sound familiar?) She finally calls the manager over, and her goes to check the price. I am watching, and I see him go down the breakfast aisle instead of the baking aisle where I got it from. He comes back and says that the price was right, and I was mistaken. I told him, politely, that I don't think he checked the right spot, and asked if I could show him where I got it from. Sure enough, when he follows me over there, we can both see plain as day that I am right and the register is wrong. He turns and tells me that they are in the wrong spot, but he will give it to me for the $2.21.
That was all I wanted to begin with! I beat him back to the register, because he took every other box off the shelf, and told Junior that I was right. The cashier looked angry. When the manager came back over, he told her to just delete the item, and give it to me for free. I told him I wasn't after getting it free, I would gladly pay the right marked price. He said no, and the cashier gave it to me for free. I paid for my groceries, and she ripped the receipt off, pretty much threw it at me, and then turned her back to the register (and me). I told her to "have a nice evening" pretty sarcastically, because at this point I was livid. She was extremely lucky that I didn't come home and write local business reviews about her store and the way I was treated. I did, however, complain to the manager (who was about 20 years old) right in front of her about her attitude, and he pretty much blew me off.
What has happened to customer service? I wasn't asking for anything but the correct price, and I get treated like garbage. I have worked for the public all my life, from fast food to being a cashier, and was taught early on that no matter what, you smile and appreciate the customer. Because without them, you are out of a job.
I wish someone would teach that to today's generation.

New Comforter For Kasi

$5 Gift Card
Yesterday, I got a $5 Walmart gift card in the mail. They recently remodeled a local store, and this gift card needs to be used at that store. I guess it's their way of getting people there. I know when they were doing the remodel, I wouldn't shop there. The store was a mess! I guess it's time to go back, and try and figure out the new layout. I hate when they move things around. It takes twice as long to find things.
But, I guess five dollars is worth checking it out.
