I Am Trying Here, People, But I Still Don't Get It

I have been Tweeting, irregularly.  I just set it up through Facebook that when I post a new blog post, it will show up on my Twitter page.  I tweet to enter some contests, but only if I can just copy and past.  I don't understand all the # and @.  I really don't.  Reading some of the status' of the people I follow gets really confusing sometimes with all the links.  Seriously, I just don't get it.  I have people I have never heard of follow me.  For about a week, and then they run away.  I don't blame them, though, because I do not tweet on a regular basis, and i usually don't follow back.  The only people I seek out, most of the time, are celebrities and musicians.  For instance, I follow "Coop" from Nurse Jackie, and his tweets crack me up.  Especially on Monday nights when they are about the show.

But anyway, do any of you have any advice for me?  Tell me what it is you love about twitter.  Convince me this isn't the stupidest invention in ages, because believe it or not, I really do want to understand.

Tweeting For Cash?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Sponsored Tweets. All opinions are 100% mine.

Twitter. There are so many bloggers using Twitter, and I just don't get it. I mean, I seriously don't know how to do anything but type in an update. Pathetic, I know. But, I am about to teach myself everything I need to know, and fast.

Do you want to know why? Because I want to sign up for sponsored tweets. That's right. I want to make money tweeting. The concept is pretty simple, and signing up is a breeze. You pick your category and keywords. You get to set the price you want to be paid per tweet, and then the advertisers will decide if they want to work with you. You, of course, get to decide if you want to take an offer or not, because let's face it, it's your Twittering. You do not have to give out your password, and you are always in control. Unlike paid posting where you have to wait 30 days to get paid, with sponsored tweets you are paid within 24 of tweeting. Once you have $50 in your account, you can cash out. Sounds simple enough, right? Even celebrities are doing it!

Now I just need to find some kind of tutorial about Twitter. I wonder if there is a "Twitter For Dummies" book or something. Can any of you wonderful people lead me in the right direction?

Let's Help Jacob Get To Disneyland!

Meet Jacob.

Jacob is four years old, and he has a life threatening illness.

Jacob wants to go to Disneyland with his family.

LeapFish and the Make A Wish Foundation want to help make Jacobs dream come true. You can help too by participating in tweet-a-cause.

All you have to do is tweet:
"Just tweeted 2 grant a childs wish! #LeapFish donates to #makeawish foundation for each tweet. http://bit.ly/3Tj8A Please retweet!"

For each tweet from now until November 27, 2009, LeapFish will donate 5 cents towards their goal of $10,000, which is enough to grant Jacob's wish.

As a mother, I pray every day that my children remain healthy. I do not know what the future holds for my child, and I hope they never have to face a terminal illness. I do know of a local family who had a wish granted through Make A Wish. Unfortunately, their son died a couple of years later. Going on their Make A Wish trip allowed them to forget about the illness for a while and focus on spending time as a family. I am sure those memories are cherished.

Let's help Jacob's family make some memories of happy times. I know a lot of you use Twitter, so tweet for a good cause.

I Need To Win

It is no secret that I want a laptop. I want one really, really bad. I plan on buying one, a purple one, when we get our taxes back next year. It will be nice to sit on he couch, or in my recliner, and blog while relaxing, or watching television. Right now, the way my desk is set up, I can not see the television while I am online. I can listen; I just can't watch.

I also need a new MP3 player, and have been coveting an iPod Touch. I will admit, I hated my iPod when I had it, but I think that was because it was one of the first models to come out, with a black and white screen. It didn't hold many songs, and it never held a charge. I have a feeling these new ones are a whole lot better, and I am more than willing to find that out for myself.

I plan on entering the Netfirms contest, and by doing so, I have the chance to win an iPod Touch or a Macbook. If I win, I won't have to wait until next year. I can start blogging and watching television now. The contest is easy to enter.

To enter, all you have to do is Tweet:
"Win a #free iPod Touch or Macbook from the @Netfirms #contest. Domain registration services via Twitter http://bit.ly/yJfJK"

or register a domain name via the Netfirms Twitter Domain Registration service for $7.99.

To register a domain name:
Send a Direct Message to Netfirms via Twitter asking us to register a domain name for you. If the domain name is available we will register it for you and automatically add it to your existing Netfirms Control Panel and bill to your current billing profile. The only prerequisite is that you add your Twitter username to your Netfirms Control Panel. Please visit our tutorial with full details on setting yourself up for domain registration via Twitter. The instructions should be completed once only and you’re good to go after that.

1. Log in to your Twitter account (You can use any of the available Twitter apps)
2. Send a dm to @netfirms with the following: reg mynewdomain.com
3. We will confirm by replying to you via dm at which point the domain will be added to your Netfirms Control Panel. The domain is now ready to be used.

One retweet equals one entry per day, and one domain registered equals one entry. Contest ends October 7, 2009, so get Tweeting!

Twitter, Anyone?

Do you use twitter? I admit to having an account, but I never go on there. I know I should, but I am just too busy to follow it all day long. I can make it easier on myself now by using tweetmeme. This is an aggregator that picks up stories from twitter users posting links. You can check out the tweetmeme blog here to make a widget for your blog so that you won't miss another tweet. There is even an iPhone version, and a wordpress plugin that is easy to install. This sounds like just what I need to get on the Twitter bandwagon.

Twitter

I have heard a lot about twitter the past few days. I have no idea what it is. Do you?

Do any of you do it? I have been hearing how it is a great way to promote your blog and gain readership. Is this true?

If you use it, would you recommend it? Is it easy, or a waste of time?

I know, I ask a lot of questions. But if it is time consuming and not really worth the effort, I want to know before I try it out. So tell me what you've heard, or what you think anout it.
