As summer vacation is drawing to a close, I realized that once again, my kids missed out on so much. I didn't have extra money for us to take any type of vacation, so they spend the majority of the summer cooped up in the house while I worked. Next year, I am going to make sure I save some of my tax refund so that we can do something fun.
I know if they had their choice, they would spend time at Summer Camps. The only thing close to camp I did as a child was a daily four hour program at the elementary school I went to when I was in third grade. I don't remember too much about it, other than the fact that one of the girls I met there (and then lost touch with) married my best friend (who was a guy!) after high school. I never had the experience of sleeping away from home in a cabin, or telling ghost stories around a fire while roasting marshmallows. I want those experiences for my kids, though now that Ryan and Kasi are teenagers, I worry about the trouble they would get into in a camp setting.
I mean, I know how I was at that age...

You are doing what you are able to. I am sure that your children understand. Times are difficult for so many now. Blessings, Catherine
