This cat is driving me crazy.
I am thinking about letting him become an outside cat, because that is where he wants to be.
His mother was a stray wild cat who hung around my friend Nicole's house. I took him in because she was taking them all to the shelter.
I just don't think he like being inside.
He runs out every time the door is opened.
He hates the litter box.
He attacks the kids legs as they walk by. I blamed it mostly on being a kitten, but it has gotten ridiculous.
He bites. In the middle of the night, he likes to get in the bed and bite your legs/arms/hands/feet...whatever he can find.
He would rather eat out of the trash than eat cat food, and this is driving me nuts, too.
I really think he would be happier outside with our other cats.
What's your opinion?

Oh geez. I don't know what to say.
Ginger's mother being a wild stray doesn't necessarily mean Ginger would act that way, too, unless you got him when he was older.
He doesn't sound very pleasant to be around though. Have you talked to your vet about him?
my cats have always been inside/outside cats. They always needed alittle outside time to get the energy out. (he is fixed, right?)
WE haven't had him fixed yet...the vet recommended six months, and he's about that now. Do you think that will make a difference?
I agree he probably wants to be outside. Make sure he's got all his shots first, and that he's been fixed! Make sure he's got shelter, too. Good luck!

I always marvel at people who have cats that they can actually keep inside all the time...we had one a few years ago but only because he was terrified of outside.
I have four and they about caused us to break our neck when we tried to keep them inside...of course I have one that had to have surgery for a broken leg because he got hit by a car or something.
But you know what, he still goes out. There is no keeping these in...and a few years ago we had one killed. So it is a risk, but I think how i would feel to not be allowed to go out and play...so do what you feel like you can live with.
I will be anxious to read the responses. We have one of those too. We have a wonderful cat that we got a long time ago, and then we got this new one that is EXACTLY like Ginger. We have taken to calling him MUTT because that's what he acts like. We all want him to just go away but we don't know what to do with him.
Well i would say if he is in no danger of cars or fox or birds of prey let him out.
But since i have 11 cats that are all indoor cats i find that since they have never been out it would be devastating to them to let them out.
But then we live on a busy road
I have 3 outside cats, and we live off the road. I think Ginger really want to be out there with them, because every time he gets out, he can be found chasing and playing with them. I have always had inside cats, and have never had one so intent on being outside. When we got him, he was a few months old, and had always been outside.
I don't know. I'm hoping once we have him fixed things will change. I am calling monday to see when they can do it. I think he's old enough now.
I'd wait and see how he is once he's fixed, but if he still wants out, then I'd let him be the outdoor cat of his dreams and quit being attacked by him.
he's rebelling against you. He found out the other cats laugh at him because you gave him a girl name! He plans all day to catch you sleeping and then slinks himself up under the covers for a nice foot attack!!!
