XCoppers On Your Side

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine got a speeding ticket. She was going up a hill in her little Daewo, and cars were passing her as she puttered along. When she reached the top of the hill, a police officer was sitting in a convenience store parking lot, and he clocked her on radar going 15 miles over the speed limit. She told the officer that her car physically can not go that fast, and that he must have clocked another car, and thought it was hers. The police man told her that if she truly believed that, that she could fight it in court.

She did go to court and she did try to fight it. She lost. The judge actually doubled her fine and her points, saying she wasted his, and everyone elses, time. I think that if she had a traffic attorney on her side, she might have had a better chance. The judge wasn't interested in what she had to say, and sided with the policeman immediately. Maybe if she had someone standing up for her, she would have had a different outcome.
