The Dark Night

What can I say? This is not my type of movie at all. I think the only Batman movie I ever watched had Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader. But after hearing all the hype about this movie, and Heath Ledger winning the Oscar for his role as The Joker, I wanted to check it out. Okay, truth be told, I wanted to see the role that people say killed Ledger.

Batman in this movie is Christian Bale, who I could take or leave. I do like Maggie Gyllenhaal and was happy to see a familiar face. Aaron Eckhart also had a role in this movie, and while he looks familiar, I can't think of another movie I would have seen him in. I was surprised to see Morgan Freeman had such a small role. I would have liked to have seen more of him.

So, what did I think of this movie? I thought it was good, although I feel like I missed something...maybe something about the relationship between Rachel and Bruce and Harvey. Was it something Batman fans would know? Was it in another Batman movie? Was I just not paying enough attention in the beginning of the movie? I don't know, but it doesn't really matter. I got sucked in by Ledgers performance. Oscar worthy? I think so. When he won, I thought it was just because he had died, but after seeing the movie...wow. The Joker was crazy, and amazingly acted.

At least that's my opinion.

I thought Heath Ledger was phenominal in a movie venue I would not ordinarily see. It was worth the price of admission to watch his acting artistry.

it would have helped seeing the last movie in regards to the romance part of it. I loved how Heath Ledger was so very dark. In my opinion, the past movies were so campy-though good. This one had that dark feel with the psychotic-ness of the Joker. I don't think he was better than Jack Nicholson in the same role, but different. I loved it personally.
