I am hoping we can buy some over the counter Acne Treatments and avoid a trip to the dermatologist. My brother had a hard time with acne when he was younger, and the only thing that helped him was a prescription. I am really hoping Ryan doesn't follow in his footsteps.
I went online and was amazed at the amount of information out there for getting ride of acne. They say there are certain food you should avoid eating, but I don't know how much I believe that. I had bed acne while I was pregnant, and after I had Brandi, and it didn't matter what I ate. I think it's hormone related. Ryan just turned thirteen, and we all know what a teen aged boys hormones are like.
I am looking into a Natural Acne Treatment that will be gentler on his skin. I don't want him to use something full of chemicals that can damage his skin more. If he needs to use something long term, I want it to be the most natural, organic treatment I can find.

My son is now 18 and still struggles with acne. the prescription stuff worked but it was harsh on the skin, really dries them out, it's terrible so we stopped that. We tried several natural products and also the over the counter stuff nothing seemed to work long term.
I agree, food may aid but its not the sole cause. We eat pretty natural, organic and for the most part, we avoid preservatives and additives. One thing I noticed he gets worse when he's stressed with school stuff or work or anything really.
Right now he's using proactive, it's working but again, stress sometimes get the better side of him and things go crazy on his face.
I don't recommend just soap and water unless it's a soap with something like green tea, vitamin E, and other natural stuff to keep the skin healthy.
Stay on top of it because kids forget to follow the routine.
Good luck,
Yira
