Scholarships

College is expensive. Even if you go to a local community college, it can get pretty expensive having to buy books and gas. Every little bit of money helps, and more and more students are applying for financial aide and scholarships.

I was checking on some scholarships, because I want to be prepared when it comes time for Ryan and Kasi to apply. I know it's still a few years away, but I want to be familiar with everything that is out there. I came across a scholarship from AmeriGlide, the company that makes stair lifts. They have a few requirements for applicants, the most important being that you must be in a wheelchair to qualify. You also have to have a 3.0 grade point average, and you must be enrolled in an accredited two or four year college. They give out two scholarships a year; one for the Fall semester, and one for the Spring semester. Each scholarship is for $500. You have until July 31, 2009 to submit your essay and application for the Fall semester.

I think it's wonderful that AmeriGlide is offering scholarships. It says a lot when big companies give back and help make hardworking students lives a little easier.
