I was just totally attacked on Facebook.
I put this in my status today:
Am I the only person who doesn't care that a guy who molested kids has died?
Apparently I am not allowed to express my opinion, but everyone else on Facebook can.
This is what one person wrote:
Wow that is when sometimes you should keep your opinions to yourself. He was never charged with a crime and I do not believe any mother would except money if her child's purity was stolen from them. Hard to believe you come from such a religious family. If you don't like what people are posting on facebook then don't sign on and read it. I really feel bad for you that you could not care that a person was taken off this earth so soon!
This is what I replied:
I never said I didn't like what other people were posting, I just said i didn't care that he died. If you think that makes me a horrible person, so be it, but don't attack the way I was raised because you have a different opinion. I never said I was glad he died, I just said i didn't care. There is a big difference there. We are all entitled to our own opinions, and I had no idea that my one little comment would get so many people pissed off. If you have a problem with who i am and how i was raised by one little thing I wrote, then you are the one being judgmental.
Just so you all know...Michael Jackson contributed to the music industry. There is no question about that. I love his music, I just don't think the world should stop spinning because he died. I do believe he molested kids. I am allowed to believe that, just like the people who believe he was innocent are allowed to believe that. That's what makes this country so great. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't think it has anything to do with the way I was raised. I don't care what other's have written, and I didn't comment on their status and attack them. She should heed her own advice, and not read my facebook page. Just my opinion.

People can be soo dumb sometimes. You know no matter what a persons view on something is you should respect it. Whether or not its what you feel is correct. I'm sorry people did that. But I'm sure a lot of people feel just as you do.♥ Matter of fact notsoaveragemama.com just did her post about Jackson saying she was sure to get hate mail from it. But all I saw were people agreeing with her.
Sometimes people tend to jump on things that are hot topics. I'm sure many people agree with you too. It's surprising sometimes to see people do have opposing views on what I may think is clearly a well-accepted opinion. Once I posted about what turned into a very hot and controversial topic and came home to like 40 comments which is more than I got on any post ever. Then people even were upset that I didn't respond back to them right away. I can't help it I was at work and didn't see them until I got home.
Aw, Jenn.. I am sorry, I wish people would be more respectful of each other.. some people tend to get up in arms when other people don't share their same view.....I will never understand that.
I totally agree with you - I'm absolutely disgusted that people are discounting the probability that he MOLESTED CHILDREN by calling it "weird" or "odd behavior in recent years". Do we now totally ignore criminal activity if somebody is really good at their art, too? Yes, it's sad he's dead, especially so young, and he apparently had a difficult life, but I don't believe for a second that he's completely innocent of all the accusations against him.
That said - people are ignorant and stupid. You're not allowed to have an opinion that differs from the status quo, no matter what the issue is - from MJ's death to gay marriage. I would respond to that one person's last sentence with "So sorry - I tend to be more upset with the death and violent repression of the people in Iran than one guy who happened to sing & dance well. *I* think it's sad that he's getting far more press than the tragedies happening around the world."
But, of course, I'm a big old snot, so...:hee:
I would have never wished him dead but I don't care that he died and I'm irritated that there has been so little about Farrah Fawcett-not that I care that she died either but still. I think that it's sad that his life spiraled so far down but I can think of other famous people that if they died would affect me more.
For the record, I agree with you. I didn't not post anything about his death because he may have been a star in the 80's,that doesn't allow him to make such bad judgements for the next two decades. I'm sorry he died young, as I would be for anyone, but I won't hail him as a hero.
