This afternoon, Lance Corporal Chris Fowlkes arrived at our local airport, and was honored with a police escort from the airport to his hometown. Fowlkes was killed a week ago in Afghanistan. I wanted my kids to witness this outpouring of love and respect, so we headed to the closest overpass, and watched as he passed underneath. As you can see, we weren't the only ones there.

Very sad! It's wonderful he was honored for giving his life for us.
Very sad and also very hard for us a military family. My SIL's unit is on the roster for Afghanistan right now.
They just finished up a month of training. He is already a Veteran of Desert Storm and Iraq.
Three times is very frightening for all of us. We have been blessed so very much already with God's protection.
We are all praying that he will once again hold Bill very close and protect him.
This is a tough time for so many!! My prayers for this family and may the brave young man rest in peace!!
God Bless his bravery...I honor him with All my heart...hughugs
I had no idea that they gave such an extensive motorcade for the fallen. It's a wonderful thing to see that we don't forget. But it's still so, so sad.
God bless him and his family. Good for you taking the kids out there to bear witness.
What a special thing to do and for your children to be a part of honoring.
