Going To School

My kids are at that age where they have to start thinking about what college they want to go to when they graduate high school. I am trying to gear them towards business schools because I want them to be successful. I want them to make lots of money so that they don't have to live paycheck to paycheck like Junior and I. I want them to be able to afford to pick up and go on vacation where ever they want, whenever they want. I want them to not have to worry about how they are going to pay their bills every week.

I want them to be secure, and happy.

I wish I had finished college. I would have loved to have taken a culinary arts business course. I have recently discovered that I love to cook. I was always a big baker, but now I am enjoying trying new recipes, and using ingredients I am unfamiliar with. I think it has something to do with my obsession with Iron Chef America.

I don't want the kids to go away to college. I would be happy if they stayed close to home. I am sure they will disagree with this, and probably try to go to a College Chicago or something. I know, as a parent, I should encourage them to spread their wings and leave the nest.

I just wish they didn't want to fly so far from home.

I know what you mean. I did not finish college and now that I am out and looking for a job, a degree is necessary. They don't seem to care what it's in, just that you have one! I'm encouraging my son to make sure that he not only STARTS college in the fall, but finishes.
