Cades Cove

On our way back home on Sunday, my mom wanted to go through a park called Cades Cove.  They have this loop that you can drive, where there are historic buildings to walk through, and wild animals to be seen.  My mom had been twice before, and both times she saw a bear.  We were hoping to see one, too, and luckily, we were able to see two of them.  The first one, in the picture above, was pretty far away, but we saw it pretty well because it was big.  Actually, it was huge!  Brandi was a little scared it would come running towards us, but it didn't.  She even got out of the car for a better look!

The one in the picture below was a lot closer to us, which was pretty cool.  It was too busy eating to pay us any attention, and when I say us, I mean the twenty or so people who stopped on the side of the road to watch it eat.
It was a pretty nice way to end a wonderful weekend!

that is really cool.. I would love to see a bear like that.. instead of in a zoo.. although, I love zoos too.. but, well, you know what I mean!

It's crazy, Stacey. We literally pulled off the side of the road, and it was right there. One guy got pretty close, and when the bear noticed him, he ran so fast! It was quite funny! I was expecting him to be bear food. I guess they are used to people stopping and watching them, because it is a National Park, but I was still a little nervous. It was a great experience, though, to be up close to it. I know I'll never forget it, and I don't think Brandi will, either.

Kristin ~ like I said to Stacey, it was an awesome experience! The first one was too far away to really appreciate, but the second one was really close. After we got back to the car, my mom said that the lady next to her pointed out three other bears in the same area. I was so focused on the one in the picture, I didn't even think to look around for more. All I can say is that it was probably a once in a lifetime experience for us, and I loved it.
