Angels Among Us

I can not begin to tell you all how blessed my little family has been in the past few months. We have been struggling financially, like everyone it seems, and I have been so worried about how my kids Christmas wasn't going to be as Merry as I would love for it to be.

I know that Christmas is not about the gifts, and my kids know that, too. But they also deserve to get the things they want, because they go without all year long, because most times we can not afford to get them the things they want. Did that just make sense?

Anyway, I have been pinching pennies, and the kids had gifts for Christmas morning. Not a lot, but enough. Then this afternoon, as Junior was getting ready to leave work, he found a card in his locker. It was addressed to "the wylie kids" and was from "santa". Inside the card was a $50 visa gift card. He has no idea who left it for us, but I am in awe of the generosity of whoever it is. It warms my heart to know that someone else wants my kids to have a good Christmas. I wrote a thank you card to all the workers at his store, because on top of the gift card, the store collected money to help us with our bills. When I say that we have been blessed, I mean, we have been really blessed, and I can not wait until we can do something to give back to those who gave to us. My heart is overflowing right now, and I hope someday I can give someone else this feeling.

Homer's Kids

Junior's store had a kid's thing going on this morning. They had face painting, games, goodie bags, a fire truck, and the smoke house.

For those of you who don't know, the smoke house is a trailer the fire department has that shows kids what to do during a fire. They do a little demonstration about what to do if your house catches on fire, and then fill the trailer with smoke and have the kids crawl out the door. It's actually pretty cool.

As you can see in the picture, the kids enjoyed having their faces painted. Brandi got a butterfly, Kasi got a snake, and Ryan got the "rock on" hand symbol. It was definitely a fun morning.

Lucky Guy

The other day I posted on my journey that hubby had a $50 bonus on his check friday. You can read the details here. Anyway, when he got home last night, he was asking ryan what he wanted for christmas.

I have mentioned that I have been picking things up here and there for the girls, but have yet to buy ryan anything. Over the weekend, I got brandi 3 dresses, for $3 each, kasi a bathing suit for $3 and 4 shirts for $1 each. I know, I'm good.

Wait, where was I going with this? Oh yeah...

So hubby is asking ryan if he wants tools or maybe things fron home depot. Ryan loves his tools, and is always wanting more, so I was a little surprised when he said no, he wanted other things, like batteries for his RC's, and a new rocket launcher (his broke in the move, so we will replace it for him, not santa), and a chest for his room. Yes, he wants a cedar chest to put at the foot of his bed, that locks. At almost 13, I'm not too sure I want to know what he's going to be hiding in there! :)

Anyway, hubby says we need to go outside and talk. He tells me that his store won a contest for going over 60 days with no accidents. All the employees were entered into a drawing, and a name was picked to win a prize. Yup, hubby's name was picked! He is pretty sure he won a gift card to the store. He's also pretty sure it is for a good amount of money. (I'll post the exact when I know for sure! Okay, he thinks it's for $200!) This will certainly come in handy, what with Christmas right around the corner. He went online last night to homedepot.com, and they have a good variety o stuff that is not available in stores. He found video games and accessories for PS2. That would be perfect fo ryan! I wish we could afford a wii, because I want one of those so bad! Yes, I said I want one. The kids do, too, but I really want it!

I got the kiddos off to school, which seems like a waste to me, since they are off tomorrow. They should have just let them have a 4 day weekend. But I need to get things going this morning, so that means I need to get up from here. Enjoy your monday!
