We are already two weeks into the new year, and I feel like it's still 2010. The kids have been home way too many days. Bob has been home, too, which has thrown my schedule all out of whack. School is canceled again tomorrow, which means the kids will be home until Tuesday. That's right, Tuesday. I am not happy about this. At all.
I am having a hard time getting my work done with everyone home. I had wanted to start a new blog at the first of the year, but that hasn't happened yet. I already have the food one, the craft one, my personal one, and this one. Oh, and a picture one. I haven't touched that one in months, though. Maybe once I get my new camera I will get back into the habit of posting a new picture every day.
My new blog will be something different. I'm thinking about starting one where I review and keep track of all the books I read. I see a lot of those types of blogs when I drop ecards. I can't decide if I want to start it on blogger or buy a domain. I read a hostgator review and according to it's users, it's a great site to use. I have never used them myself, so I would appreciate input from any of you that have.
Hopefully once the kids are back in school I will find the time to actually get the new blog up and running. That's assuming the kids will, eventually, one day, finally go back to school.

How Did You Do?
How did you all fair in the recent google update? I can't complain. This site stayed the same, and my craft blog went from a 0 to a 1. It used to be a 3 before I switched to my own domain name, so I am hoping eventually it will get back up there. But for now, I am content with what I have.
I am beginning to wonder, though, if who you chose for hosting has anything to do with it? I am happy where I am right now, and have no immediate plans to switch. Truth be told, I wouldn't have a clue how to even go about it. I do, however, know of a site that does side by side comparisons of top hosting companies, so that might come in handy if I decide to switch.
Maybe, just maybe, I will be able to figure it out on my own, without any help. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Still Deciding
Most of you know that a month or so ago, I decided to make this blog a dot com. At that time, I decided to stay with blogger because it is familiar and I fear change. It's true, I am a creature of habit, and disrupting my routine throws me off for days, or even weeks sometimes. I know I should seek professional help for this, and maybe one day I will bring it up during my bi-weekly therapy sessions with Junior.
I seem to have geared off subject. This is not about my craziness, but about my inability to decide on a blog host. There are so many choices out there, and trying to go through them all is overwhelming, to say the least. I finally decided to find out what other people thought, so I checked out the web hosting awards to find out who is the best. You can find out who has the best blog web hosting here. I love how they list all the features and services that are available, and the prices that go with them. My problem is that I am so computer illiterate, and I still don't understand what half of the listed things are. It's a good thing my brother is a computer guy. Maybe he can explain things to me in terms I can understand.

Finding The Right Web Host
I recently bought my own domain name for this blog. I haven't switched from free hosting yet, because I can't make up my mind which is the best way to go. I have been reading the top web hosting reviews and there is so much information, it's hard to make a decision. It all boils down to which features are the most important to you. I had no idea there were so many options available, and have no idea if I would even need any of them. I really need to sit down and go through each site before I make my final decision. It is important to me that I chose the right one, because this blog is my baby, and I want to treat it right.

Do I Need A Host?
I have been thinking, seriously thinking, about making this blog a dot com. I have solicited the advice of friends, and done a little research on the internet. I have to tell you, there is so much information out there, and it can be very confusing for people like me, whose internet skills are lacking.
I did find webhostinggeeks.com, and they have so much information available, and it is all in easy to understand charts. Nothing explains things better than charts. I was able to see the top 10 web hosting sites, and even though I have decided to leave my blog right here, it was interesting to see all of my options in one place. I was also able to gather some information about multiple domain hosting which could come in handy if I decide to "dot com" all of my blogs. I would be able to have them all on one account, instead of having different accounts for each site. That would have to make things easier.
I just have to say that I am so lucky to have knowledgeable friends who are willing to take the time to help me figure all of this out. I just hope that someday I am able to return the favor. There are other things that I might be able to help them with, like how to crochet a baby blanket or bake an awesome snickerdoodle.
