Every year, it's the same thing. School is about to start back, and the kids are deciding which kind of book bags they want. Brandi found this one a couple of weeks ago:
and I bought it then because last year, the book bag she wanted was sold out by the time we went shopping. Ryan and Kasi, on the other hand, are having a hard time deciding on their backpacks and book bags for back to school. I am struggling, too, because as much as I want them to pick out cheap ones, I know they will not last. In fact, last year, Ryan's didn't even last a month, and Kasi's didn't last much longer than that. I ended up spending more money on book bags than if I had just bought them the better made ones to begin with.
So this year, I think we are going to buy the well made ones to begin with. Of course, that means I have to do a bit of digging to find some that are reasonably priced. I had Kasi looking online yesterday, and she found a bunch she liked. It is my job now to find coupon codes for usoutdoor.com so that I do not have to pay full price.
I may want to buy better made book bags this year, but I am still cheap.

This is one thing I do not miss now that the boys are grown. School shopping was always a pain, except for our pizza tradition, and a very expensive endeavor. You are right to buy the more durable book bags right off the bat.
redjathy ~ That is exactly what I am going to do :)
Cute! I love Selena Gomez. I'm a dork. I still watch Disney even when the kids aren't here. I offered to get my son a new backpack this year, but he swears he can use the same one again. Thank goodness for practical boys!
Diana ~ I registered Brandi for school today, and her teacher wanted each kid to get a "special" notebook to use as a journal, so off to walmart we went to find a selena gomez one...after 30 minutes of searching, Brandi finally settled on a notebook with hearts on it...if she had her way (and it was available)she would have everything wizard themed.
That said, it is 1:15am, I am the only one up, and I am watching Wizards. I also watch iCarly and Victorious when the kids aren't around. I love those shows, so I guess I'm a dork, too! lol!
