I love getting awards! Thanks Silvergirl for thinking of me!
The Rules:
1. Thank and link back the person who gave you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 great bloggers you know.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.
Now, you all know so much about me, and I really can not think of anything new to share. So, I did what every good blogger would do and put a shout out on Facebook for my lovely friends to ask me seven questions I would answer about myself. And they sure did ask some good questions! Here we go:
1. What form of birth control do you use?
Well, I don't use any. We are leaving things up to God, but that's not saying we aren't careful. I am pretty good at knowing exactly when I'm ovulating, so we avoid doing anything during that time. It's worked for the past 9 years, so we must be doing something right.
2. If you were to have another child and it was healthy, what sex would you want it to be?
This is an easy one for me...I would want a girl. Truth be told, I was so upset when I found out Ryan was a boy. I wanted a girl so bad, but God knew better than me, and I am so glad he gave me Ryan. I can not explain how much I love my son...it's different then the way I love my girls. It's not more or less, just different. That said, I don't think I could do another boy...all the hyperactivity and struggling so much with school and the attitude! Oh my. But, there will not be anymore babies, especially since Brandi says she will give it away because she needs to stay the youngest.
3. Have you ever smoked ? If you have, what brand did you smoke, how many packs a day. Have you quit and when ?
I did smoke for many years. I didn't start smoking until I was 18 years old and almost out of high school. I smoked until I was about 7 months pregnant with Brandi, and I was smoking about a pack a day. Yes, I smoked through all of my pregnancies, and I am convinced that that contributed to Ryan's ADHD issues. I smoked Marlboro Lights. This past October was 9 years since I quit, and to be honest, I have never even craved a cigarette since. I am also the worst when it comes to smoking now. The smell makes me sick! Bob started smoking again after his dad died, and I HATE the way he smells these days.
4. What is your favorite time of the day and why?
I actually have two favorite times of the day. I love the few hours after the kids get on the bus in the morning. I usually go back to bed until 10am, and it's the best sleep I get all week. I go to bed most nights about 1am, get up at 2:15am to get Bob to work, then again at 5:15am to get the kids off to school. I lay back down around 7am, and those 3 hours of sleep are heavenly. I also love the couple of hours before the kids go to bed at night. Homework is finished, baths are taken, and we usually either play a game together or lay in my bed and watch a little television. During this time, I don't think about all the blogging I have to do or whether or not the dishes are done. This is my time to spend with the kids, and they deserve my undivided attention.
5, If you could move anywhere... anywhere... where would if be and why ?
Wow. To be honest, I wouldn't want to go anywhere. I would love to move into a house we own, but I would want that to be close to where we now live. My parents live close by, as well as my brother and one of my sisters. I love my family, and I want my kids to grow up with their cousins. Some of my favorite memories of growing up involve my aunt and cousins, and I want the same for my kids.
6. Do you wear a wedding ring?
Yup.. I put it on almost 16 years ago, and it's never been off my finger, except when my fingers swelled so bad when I was pregnant and it was cutting off the circulation to my finger. Wanna see it?
Pretty, right?
7. Why don't I drive?
This is a tough one, because I never sound sane when I explain this. First let me say that I know it's irrational, I know it makes me sound crazy, but I have comes to term with that long ago, and you should too. :) When I became of driving age, I was never pushed to get my license. My parents were going through a tough time back then, so it wasn't a priority. I had friends who drove, and I worked at a McDonald's that was close enough to walk to, so that is what I did whenever I didn't have a ride. I had a boyfriend back then who tried to teach me, but that didn't work out well. He had me drive his car, which was a manual transmission, and as I was going down a busy street, I got a little freaked out and wanted to stop. He told me I couldn't just hit the brake, but he wouldn't tell me what I did need to do to stop. That freaked me out! Then when I first met my husband, he tried to teach me. I drove with a permit for a while (always with him in the car), and then one day, there was a spider on the dashboard. I asked him to kill it, and he wouldn't, so I grabbed a soda bottle and started going after it, completely forgetting that I was driving the car. I swerved off the road and hit a mailbox. Thankfully, I swerved back onto the road (I don't know how I didn't over-correct and wreck the car...God was most definitely looking after us that day), but that did it for me. I was very pregnant with Ryan at the time, and all I could think of was how I would have killed him if I had wrecked the car. For the past 15 years, I have been living with that fear...of killing one of my kids if I wreck, that I become paralyzed with fear just thinking about driving. I am also really careful about who my kids ride with. Like I said, I know this is irrational, but it's me. Oh, and since I am not a fan of being in public anyway, not driving doesn't normally bother me. I don't mind being at home, that's why this whole blogging for money thing is perfect for me. It's also why I am still slightly freaked out about this whole Bank Of America shoot.

Wow, I learned a lot !! :) Your ring is beautiful !! :) Ummmm, I see that I got tagged !! Errrr !! LOL
Since I asked you all but 6 of those questions, and my friends don't know that I blog, would you think of questions for me. I am going to bed. I have to get up real early to drive to St. Louis with Kay. So message me the questions. You know so much about me !! :)
Dawn ~ okay...since you'll be offline most of tomorrow, I'll work on the questions then. Have a safe trip tomorrow!
the ring is beautiful! It's interesting to hear these things. Based on your driving story I think it's safe to say you have a phobia of it. The "knowing it is irrational" is actually the key! :) Most people who have a phobia are totally aware that it is irrational but don't care one bit! lol You have a right to make your own decision about that. I don't blame you. I totally depend on driving though with school and all. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to. I hate driving in this snow.
same award we have! great thing about these awards is they always make a way for bloggers to be friends with everyone also
Great post! I am also afraid to drive, I don't know but I don't have the courage to do it. I hope to overcome it soon.
Sandi ~ I keep telling people that I'm a little bit nuts, but most don't believe me until they hear my reasons for not driving. I never thought of it as a phobia before, but that makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
pacethroughlife ~ you are so right! :)
John ~ I'm happy to hear I am not alone. :)
Your ring is gorgeous!
I don't drive either - I did for awhile, but city driving is not for me. I came to it late since I grew up in NYC, and I've never been comfortable as a driver (to say the least - except MAYBE on really quiet country roads) - so I totally get you. If we ever move out of the city I probably will, though.
Lidian ~ I think if I had gotten my license way back when, I would be okay now...but at this point, it's the fear holding me back. If I could just find a way to get past it...
Good job with telling us something new about you. You are a very wonderful person. I also received this award and may just take some of you idea's. I have a wedding ring story that would work. I don't think I have shared that before.
Tammy ~ ohhh...I want to hear your wedding ring story!
ohh thank you jenn, Now I'm getting to know you more. I like the ring :)
Thanks Silvergirl!
I had to come back and say, Yeah on quitting smoking !! :) Your ring is beautiful !! :) Now, be careful on the BC !! :) :)
It is interesting the people who don't drive. I guess being the oldest in the family, my mom was also happy. I could run my brothers around, pick up milk and stuff. But, I do see your point. I had a couple of accidents and was scared to death to drive. One was a real bad accident, I was okay. It was an icy day in central illinois, and I slid through a busy street and got hit by a car going 55 miles an hour. Yeah, the car got totaled. My dad didn't get mad, he was just glad I wasn't hurt. But, I was afraid to drive on ice after that.
Dawn ~ I completely forgot about your questions...spending the day in bed today threw me off. I'll try to remember tomorrow.
Nah, you sound sane - I don't drive either for a similar reason. Maybe you have to be one of us to understand? lol
I got this award from Silvergirl as well.I started smoking when I was in Jr. High school.I finally quite smoking in Jult 1994.
Storm ~ I feel better knowing that I am not the only one!
Mike ~ great job quitting!
It's nice to know more things about you, Jenn. What a lovely ring! Love it! I admire your resilience in not going back to smoke. You're a beautiful person inside and out.
Cheers!
LAINY
Lainy ~ thanks! I am one of the lucky ones who was able to quit smoking on the first try.
That's too funny, my best friend doesn't drive either... it doesn't bother her a bit. Personally, it would drive me nuts... but, if it doesn't bug you, then why not?
Jennie ~ I guess it's the old saying "you don't miss what you've never had"...I think if I had ever driven, I would miss being able to get up and go, but I'm happy just the way I am.
