Rubber Mulch Under The Swings

My kids are getting older.  Ryan is 16, Kasi is 14, and Brandi, my baby girl, just turned 10.  I thought they were getting too old for playing on swing sets, but I was wrong.  When we moved into this apartment complex, they were so excited that it had a playground. Of course, I had to have a conversation about playground safety with them, especially since all the kids in the neighborhood play there.

One of the things I like best about our playground is that is has Rubber Mulch underneath the swings and slide.  I know that when the kids are down there, even if they fall, they will land on something other than cement.  Trust me when I say, little kids may play hard, but bigger kids play rough.  Falling into mulch cuts down on scrapped knees and elbows.

I also like that I do not have to do the upkeep on the playground.  Heck, I don't have to do the upkeep on anything.  I don't have a yard, though there is a grassy area on the side of our building where Brandi likes to play with her little friends.  The maintenance man keeps the grass cut and the landscape mulch looking pretty.  He compacts the trash twice a day and picks up any litter around the complex.

It's nice not living somewhere that looks like a junk yard.  I spent too many years doing just that while I was married.
