My Wisdom Teeth

 I think I am going to have to break down and go to the dentist.  I haven't been in many years, which I know is a bad thing, but I have this fear, and well, I have no desire to torture myself.  However, I have this wisdom tooth that has been bothering me for a while now, and it is finally time to do something about it.

I went online to find a dentist in my area who sounded good, and I didn't find any.  I know, I am probably way too picky, but I want a dentist who will not look down on me because of my lack of dental care in recent years. I also want a dentist who isn't too stingy with the "sweet air". 

I am not sure what types of dental services I'm going to need, but I am pretty sure that they will be pulling my wisdom teeth.  Even though only one of them is bothering me, the rest are having a hard time coming in, so I am not going to be surprised when they want to pull all four.

Who knows.  Maybe a little dental surgery will help me get past this weight loss hump.  That's a pretty nice silver lining, right?  Right?

Brandi's Teeth

What a day! I have so much to tell you, but there is no way to get it all into one cohesive post, so I guess you'll get a few different posts from me tonight. You could probably say you've had this coming, since I have sort of been missing in action these past few weeks. Most of what I have to say involves Brandi, which leads me to believe that you all think I only have one child, since she seems to be my topic of choice lately. Let me assure you, Ryan and Kasi are both still breathing, and doing extremely well. Brandi, on the other hand, well, let's start with her teeth.

A few weeks ago, Kasi hit her in the mouth with something. I can not remember how it happened or what she got hit with, but it left a pretty nice bruise on her gums. At first it was just a little spot, but it has grown into a pretty good sized black spot. It is right above one of her loose baby teeth, so I was kind of hoping once the tooth fell out, the bruise would go away. Unfortunately, Brandi has teeth like me, and they flat out refuse to fall out. My teeth are so uneven, it's embarrassing. It's the reason I don't smile in pictures. I have actually been thinking about seeing a San Diego Invisalign dentist who specializes in giving people the smiles they have always wanted. Dr. Landau was named one of the top dentists in San Diego Magazine, so he must be pretty good. I just hope they offer some of that "happy gas", because I am not a willing patient, and I need all the help I can get to relax in that chair.

For now, I guess I should make an appointment for Brandi. The dentist may want to pull that tooth so that the bruise will go away. I am just glad she does better than me at the dentist, and I think it's just because her dentist gives her ice cream after every visit.

Look at those teeth!

No, they are not actually rotting out of her mouth. I took this picture at the circus last week after she finished her snow cone. She is in need of a trip to the dentist, though. It's been a while since all the kids have had check ups, and I know that is my fault. I am letting my fear affect their teeth, and that is not right. I know this, yet I still put off their checkups. I am definitely in the running for mom of the year now, right?

I am actually the one in need of some serious dental work. I have a wisdom tooth that flairs up every few months, causing me all kinds of pain. Most of the tooth is missing, so I know they would have to surgically remove what is left, and that scares me to death. I remember when my mom had hers removed, and it was awful. But, I know that having it done will be worth it. I just can not bring myself to make the appointment, because none of the dentists around here offer sedation.

And trust me when I say I will need to be sedated.

I wish I could fly off to see a San Diego Sedation Dentist, because "they strive to offer maximum comfort and anxiety-free patient care and, therefore, offer oral sedation to patients who might otherwise avoid dental treatment". I am most definitely a patient who is avoiding dental treatment. These dentists, Leslie Strommer, DDS, and Scott Strommer, DDS, also specialize in cosmetic dentistry, and I would be lying if I said I was happy with my smile. Maybe while they have me all sedated they could whiten my teeth and maybe straighten them a little bit. They also have several different financing options, so I think I could fit this into my monthly budget.

Teeth

I hate going to the dentist. In fact, it has been many years since I have been to the dentist. Luckily, my teeth are in great condition. However, I did break a piece off of one of the back ones, and feel like I might need to bite the bullet and make an appointment. I found this website that discusses every aspect of dental implant procedures, so at least I am going to go to the appointment well informed. This site has answers to common questions, and even shows videos of certain procedures. I did not have the stomach to watch, though. I like not knowing what is going to happen. It helps me to sleep better at night.

A Lot About Nothing

Mom and Colleen made it back from New York safe and sound. I went to Colleen's house and picked up my bagels. YUM-O. (I stole that from RR) I also got to see Carson. I love that little boy like crazy, and I'm convinced he hates me. EVERY time, he cries when I hold him. I tell myself they are tears of joy, just to make myself feel better. He keeps getting bigger and bigger, and has 2 teeth now. Super cutie pie!!Ryan and Kasi went to the dentist today. Good news there. Kasi's teeth are fine. Ryan has the beginnings of 2 cavities. Since they are both in baby teeth, as long as they don't bother him, they are going to leave them alone. They suggested we meet with an orthodontist, just to do a consultation. The hygenist seems to think that his bottom teeth are crowded. But she also said that it is more a cosmetic thing than a necessity, so insurance may not pay for it. She said the consultation is free, so we may look into it. Please continue to pray for Nicole's Grandmother, Mildred. The doctors are still trying to find the cause of her fever. I was saddened last night when Danny and Oswald were eliminated from the race. I kinda wanted them to win. I guess now I'm pulling for Mirna and Charla. There's just something good about rooting for the underdogs.I guess that's about it. Until next time....
