Our First Christmas With Lillie

If it was up to me, I would leave our Christmas tree up all year long.  It takes me a very long time to get the ornaments on it every year, and it would be so much easier if I didn't have to take them back down again.

Last year, we didn't have Lillie.  She is such a pretty cat, but I am convinced that her father was satan himself.  She has such a mean streak in her. I call her demon cat most of the time.  Brandi walks around the house carrying a pillow in front of her, because Lillie is known to attack without any warning.  I am not looking forward to see what she does when we finally do put the Christmas tree up this year.  I know she is going to try and climb it, and I am sure that my ornaments are going to end up broken and all over the house.  I have no idea how I am going to keep her away from the tree.  I like to think that it is just the kitten in her that makes her crazy and mean, but she is a year old now, and that phase should have been over and done by now.

I would love to know how you keep your pets away from your Christmas tree.  I am open to advice from everyone.  Keep in mind, though, that Lillie is a jumper, and deaf as a door nail.

All Fixed

My sweet, sweet Lillie. Right now she is fighting an upper respiratory infection.  I have no idea how old she is, but two weeks ago she went into heat.  Not fun at all, let me tell you.  I made an appointment to have her fixed, and Tuesday morning I dropped her off at the humane society for the surgery.  I got several phone calls from them throughout the day, asking permission to run tests because they thought she had ear mites and ear infections.  When I went to pick her up, they were still waiting for her test results, and I ended up waiting for over an hour. Brandi was with me, and she was bored out of her mind.  I wish she had brought her homework with her, or had something to do.  Even Preschool Worksheets would have kept her occupied.   When the nurse (is that even what they are called?) finally came out with her results, she admitted to me that she had gotten busy in the clinic on the way to the lab and had forgotten about me.  I was a little ticked off, but I didn't show it, which ended up being a good thing because they charged me $35 less than what they quoted me when all was said and done.  Lillie is on an antibiotic for ten days and will be fine. The ear tests all came back negative...but they said her ears were really dirty so they cleaned them.  They kind of confirmed that she is deaf, but that wasn't a surprise to me.  We love her anyway.

Another Lillie Picture

I figured it was time to post a new picture of Lillie.  She is getting fat, which is awesome because she was a skinny little thing when we got her a couple of weeks ago.  She still likes to bite, but she also loves to cuddle.  I had to fix her eyes because the picture gave her red eyes, but in reality, her eyes are the prettiest light blue. The best thing is, I was able to get rid of every single flea on her before my house became infested.

Lillie

Here's our new little kitty, Lillie.  I'm not exactly sure how old she is, maybe a few months.  A friend of mine found her, which leads me to believe someone tossed her out of their car or something.  I can only assume it is because she is deaf, because she is the sweetest little thing.  She loves to cuddle, and every time I sit on the couch, it doesn't take her long to find me and snuggle up between me and my laptop.  My girls love her, too.  I am sure she is going to have a very happy life here with us.
