Cell Phone Drama
As you all know, hubby and I recently joined this generation and got ourselves some cell phones. We went through sprint. We got 550 minutes to share, with free nights (after 7) and weekends. Our bill should be $87 per month. The other day, we got the second bill in the mail. There was ANOTHER $36 activation fee. I say another because we paid one on our first bill. Hubby calls sprint, asking why we're paying 2 activation fee's, when we were told all fee's would be on our first bill. (keep in mind, hubby is out of work, and our money is budgeted VERY tightly until he goes back!) Sprint tells him he needs to go to the place where we got the phones, talk to the guy who sold them to us, and he could waive the second activation fee. So yesterday, we head off to the mall. The guy who sold us the phones wasn't there, but the girl who was took off the fee, so we only paid our regular bill. But as we're standing there, kasi is reading a sign that says, "if you work here, you could save money on your bill". Then they had little signs with different companies and percentages on them. One had The Home Depot. Hubby asks about it, and depending on home many people who work for each company have cell phones through sprint, they offer monthly discounts. We sign up, and now get 25% off our monthly bill, every month! YEAH!!!! Totally made the trip there worth it.Today is another rainy day! We haven't been able to fish at all. The one day it was nice enough, it was too windy. I'm excited about the kids going back to school monday. Then they have 8 more weeks ( brandi had me count yesterday) before they are out for the summer. I don't know what we're going to do without a pool this year. Hopefully when we get that extra gov't check, we can replace the one that tore up last year.Speaking of that stupid check; we won't get ours until june 20. My friend nicole works for a tax company. She got an email at work saying that if the last 2 digits of your SSN were above 51, your check will be mailed on june 20. This totally sucks for many reasons. First, we had to buy a new car, because the transmission in the taurus is going. There are times hubby hits the gas and we go NOWHERE! So we got a trooper from my in-laws, that hubby is fixing because it doesn't work, and we have to pay them out of that check, and I HATE owing family money. Second, I wanted my pool BEFORE the hot weather hit. We saw one in wal-mart for $700 that I want so bad, but we will probably end up getting the 18 foot, not the 24 foot I want, because the 18 foot is only like $400. Then there's the whole how are we going to pay our bills fear that is creeping in. Hubby has been out for 2 months now, and all the money I put aside is gone. We are making it, barely, on his disability checks, but when he goes back to work, those stop, and there will be a few weeks, hopefully no more than 3, before he draws a check again. (he gets paid every 2 weeks) Granted, it will be a full check, but it is still going to leave us short. Had we gotten the gov't check in may, it would have been perfect, cause hubby is going back to work the end of april. Make sense? But it doesn't matter anyway, because it's not gonna happen. So, if I disappear for a while in may, it's because cable/internet is a luxury we may not be able to afford! Yes, it sucks, but it's the way it's gotta be. But fear not, I will not be gone long, and will make hubby take me to the library so I can check up on everyone!Okay, enough complaining. It's friday, and although it is raining, I have some house cleaning to do, and frigga is rockin', so I must check in periodically over there. She seldom has songs I know, and I usually miss the ones I do, but it's fun to try and play along. Have a great day, all my wonderful friends!
