You're Going To Love This!

...and those of you who actually know my husband will love it more!

Last week, you might remember, I wanted to get my veggie plants outside. Wait, maybe I have been talking more about that on my craft blog, but it doesn't matter. Anyway, we didn't have enough dirt to fill my boxes, and Ryan was tired of digging holes behind our building, so we headed to Lowe's. Yes, Junior works as Home Depot, but we shop at Lowe's. Go figure. So we go to Lowe's, get a bunch of soil and mulch, a couple of tomato plants, and I got a houseplant. We wrote a check for $41.17 and went on our merry little way.

I got up Saturday morning, and like I do every day, I went to my bank's website to check the balance of my account. Everything looked good, except for a check for $44.17. I pulled up the check to look at it, and it's the Lowe's check. They put the check into the system for $3 too much. I called the bank...they are open on weekends...and the teller looked it up and told me I could do one of two things. I could dispute it with them, and it would take 10 to 15 days. OR, I could take a copy of the check to Lowe's, show them the mistakes, and they could just refund us the difference. I decided to go with option two.

I called Junior at work and told him he needed to swing by the bank when he got off work to pick up the copies they printed for me. I explained to him what happened, and when he got home, he was ready to go to Lowe's. Now, those of you who know Junior, know that maybe this is something that I should take care of. Junior has a tendency to get mad quickly, and I didn't want to make a scene in the store.

Junior told me that he had been thinking about it, and he felt that Lowe's owed us a bounced check fee. His logic...if we had made a mistake in writing our check, we would have had to pay a $30 bounced check fee. Since THEY made a mistake to US, they should pay us a $30 "bounced check fee". Yes, I can see you all rolling your eyes...I did, too. This is also where I told him there was no way I was going into the store with him if he insisted on following that course of action. When we got to Lowe's, me and the kids waited in the car.

We waited...

and waited...

90 minutes later....yes...90 minutes...Junior finally came out of the store...with his $30 bounced check fee, plus our $3! I was in shock!

He said he nicely explained his position, and they called everyone from store manager to corporate, to find out what to do, and in the end, decided that he had a valid point, so they paid him the money.

How crazy is that???

I agree with your husband on this one. It's good he stood up for you guys and got them to pay that bank fee since it was their fault.

Wow. I am impressed. That sounds like something my hubby would come up with but he I'm not sure he could pull it off. Once he gets past frustrated to plain mad, it gets ugly.

hey! that is GREAT!! i love that he thought of that and that he also stayed calm and talked to them and got the extra money for you guys!! way to go Junior!! :)

Bryan wouldn't have even gone back to the store for me for the three bucks... he would have just let it go ~ not sure why, but that is just how he is. He is that way when things are marked wrong or whatever and we get charged more, where I say something and want my money back or the lower price that is advertised or whatever he just lets it go... sometimes I just ignore it and sometimes it really annoys me. lol

way to go though!! that's great!!
xoxoxo
give Junior a HIGH FIVE from me!! :)
