GravyMaster ~ Not Just For Gravy!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of GravyMaster for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I will admit to not being a fan of gravy.  I prefer my turkey dry with lots of salt and my potatoes loaded down with butter and bacon bits, maybe even a little cheese.  I have never attempted to make gravy, so I never had the need to buy GravyMaster.

Until now.  You see, I discovered that this ingredient can be used for many things besides making gravy.  GravyMaster can be used to caramelize foods and help lock in their flavor, or you can add it to sauces to give them that little something extra.  With Christmas just two weeks away (how the heck did that happen?) I was searching online for new recipes, and I was not having much luck.  I wanted to make something new, but I decided to just give something old and traditional a new twist.  I decided to Master the meal and check out the GravyMaster website, and I found this recipe for Holiday Ham.  As a girl who has only ever put mustard on ham, I have to admit this glaze sounds delicious!

Holiday Ham

Servings: 16
Cook time: 15 minutes per pound
Prep time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

1/2 cup Dijon-style mustard
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed to measure
1/2 cup honey
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon GravyMaster®
1 fully cooked ham (about 12 pounds)

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine mustard, vinegar, sugar, honey, oil, soy sauce, dry mustard and GravyMaster®.
  2. Simmer 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Place ham in open shallow roasting pan. Bake at 325° F. until meat thermometer registers 140° F., allowing about 15 minutes per pound.
  5. Remove ham from oven 30 minutes before end of baking time.
  6. Remove any rind.
  7. Trim and smooth fat.
  8. Score deeply in a diamond pattern.
  9. Brush ham with glaze; return to oven.
  10. Bake 30 minutes, brushing several times during baking with remaining glaze.
  11. Serve immediately with remaining glaze, heated, on the side. Makes about 16 servings.

Not only does this recipe sound good, it seems like it is easy to do, which is important to me, because on holidays, I want to spend time with my family, not cooking.  If you are looking for new ways to use GravyMaster this Holiday season, check out their website, then come back and let me know which delicious recipe you are going to try!
