Okay, so the sunburn is a little better today. I think the burn cream is working, and I had on a lot of sunblock today while I was in the pool. I have to tell you...I am exhausted! Being in the pool/sun all day for a few days can wear a person out. Aside from the burn on my chest, the rest of me is finally getting tan. (can't you tell?) We are staying home tomorrow, though. This way, I can have a day out of the sun, and maybe catch up on all the housework and computer stuff I have been neglecting.
Maybe...or I might just be lazy and re-watch the new episode of True Blood on demand. You know how much I love my vampires.

This Is How It Looks Today
I. Am. In. Pain.
Yup, it seems to be getting worse before it gets better. The only thing that seems to ease the burn is an actual burn cream that Junior got for me. I haven't tried the vinegar yet, because I don't have any in the house and I forgot to get some at the store today. Aloe makes it hurt worse, which is weird, but when I put it on, I had to pour an entire bottle of water on it to ease the burning as I wiped it off. I have an after sun cream that is working on the rest of my chest and back and shoulders.
The funny thing is, today we were in the pool for about 6 hours (I know!) and it didn't hurt then. I was, of course, covered in sunscreen. I took this picture about five minutes ago. I just got out of the shower, and put the burn cream on it...that's why it's shiny.
Is it crazy that I plan on spending a few more hours swimming tomorrow?

My Poor Thumb
Tonight for supper, I went all out. I made my famous Parmesan crusted chicken with mixed veggies, herb buttered angel hair pasta, and garlic cheese biscuits. Sounds yummy, right?
Well, it was!
But, before I got to enjoy this delicious meal, I burned the crap out of my thumb. I had everything done, and was taking the biscuits out of the oven. The pot holder I grabbed was wet (I didn't realize it) and the heat went right through and started to burn my hand. So stupid me grabbed the pan with my other hand, and burned my thumb, right in the crease where it bends. I threw the pan onto the counter, and started screaming. Everyone came running, and then laughed at me because I was jumping up and down, laughing myself, trying to make it stop burning. We learned from our experience with Kasi that you should never put ice on a burn, so I just had to let it cool down on it's own.
Let me tell you...I never knew how much I use my thumb. Now that it hurts, I am very aware of how often I use it. I keep hitting the blister (yup, there's a big ole blister) on everything!
But let me assure you...those biscuit were so yummy, it was worth a little burn.

The Power Of Prayer

I honestly believe that all the people who have been praying for her made a difference. As you can see, it is completely healed over, and just a little pink, which is getting lighter and lighter every day.
She's one lucky girl.

Looking Great!

She is also doing better with it. She is not afraid to hit it anymore, so she is doing more than just watching television. I think she is also feeling better about going to school, because if it gets hit accidentally, it won't hurt as much as before.
I will be happy when the whole thing is healed up, and she isn't scarred.
If you haven't read the story behind this burn, you can find it here.

Back From The Doctor

She's a trooper. She never complains that it hurts, and only asks for pain medicine at night, after I clean it. The doctor said it's going to take a while for it to fully heal, but we are on the right track.
Thank God.

The Story
Thursday night, we decided to make some smore's. The kids had already roasted hot dogs over the fire about an hour before, so doing the marshmallows shouldn't have been a big deal.
But not ten minutes after I took this picture:
Junior took this picture:
But not ten minutes after I took this picture:

You see, Brandi's marshmallow caught fire, and Kasi didn't want her to turn around with it and set the tent on fire. So she attempted to blow out the flames, and leaned forward, and in typical Kasi fashion, lost her balance and fell into the fire. Thank God her arm landed on the side of the fire pit and not in the flame, or the burn would have been much worse. But because we were unfamiliar with the area, we asked that an ambulance be called to the park. Because they were told it was a child burned due to falling into a fire, they had medi-vac on the way to fly her to the burn center in Augusta, Georgia. Luckily, they decided that it was not big enough to warrant a helicopter ride. They did say, however, that an inch or two more and she would have been on her way. Instead, they gave us directions to the hospital, and we took her ourselves. (I didn't want to pay the ambulance bill...I know, I'm cheap....but know that if it was necessary, we would have rode in the ambulance for sure) Oh, when it happened, Kasi wanted ice to stop the burn, so I gave her some in a towel. The EMS guy said never to do that, because the ice makes the burn worse. I had no idea!
Here is a shot of Ryan and Boo in the waiting room, probably about 1am.

I think we left the hospital a little after 2am....she fell about 10:30pm. They gave her some lortab for pain, and then cleaned the burn...which means they used tweezers to pick off all the burnt skin. I had originally gone back with her, but when they started that, I had to switch with Junior. I couldn't watch them hurt my child like that, although she insisted that it didn't hurt. I think she was in shock. She didn't even cry when it happened. She just had a look on her face like she couldn't believe that she had done that.
So, you want to see her burn, don't you? Okay, here you go:

I am not looking forward to the scar this burn will leave, but I am so thankful that it wasn't worse, because it could have been. She was headed face first into the fire. THAT would have been awful.
So, I have to take her to her regular doctor on Monday or Tuesday...whenever I can get an appointment. Until then, we have to keep it wrapped with some Silverdeen (sp?) cream on it.
Other than this one accident, we had a great time!
