Why Would Someone Want To Be Me?

I have never really given much thought to identity theft, mainly because I don't think anyone would want to be me.  I mean, my credit score is horrible right now, so getting credit under my name would be impossible.  I am working on improving my score, since I am now the only one responsible for it around here.  I have been trying so hard (and succeeding!) to pay all my bills on time.  Since everything is in my name only now, it is important that I start out on the right foot.

Once I do have my credit back where it should be, I will do everything I can to make sure it stays there.  I plan on keeping an eye on it using one of those free credit score sites to make sure no one tries to bring me back down.

I lived my entire married life thinking our credit score didn't matter.  I realized quickly once I was on my own just how important it is.  When I first got my license, I needed car insurance.  I called around for quotes, knowing it would cost an arm and a leg because I was a new driver.  What I didn't expect was being turned down by several insurance agencies because of my credit score.  I had no idea such a thing would matter to them.

Thankfully I was able to get insurance, even though I do pay quite a bit for it.  Hopefully, once I establish some good credit in my own name, I can shop around for a better deal.

Repairing My Credit

Now that I am on my own with the kids, I am finding out how hard it is to repair my credit.  While married, I let my credit slip, and it is so hard getting it back on track.  I am not sure what my actual credit score is, but I do know it is not where it should be.  I had trouble having my power turned on at the new place because of it.  I actually had to have someone sign as a guarantor.

I know it's pretty simple to find your free credit score online, and knowing this can help get my credit back where it needs to be.  This is one of the things that I really want to do for myself.  I am learning the importance of paying my bills on time, and I really want to start this new chapter of my life on the right foot.

Speaking of my new life, the kids and I are really loving the new place.  The only thing we miss is television.  I can't afford cable right now, so we have been watching a lot of movies.  I plan on setting up netflix through the wii, but I just haven't had the time.  I feel like I am never at home anymore.  Today was the first time all week that I had time to actually relax. I also cleaned my house, because I want to start a new work week with a clean house.

It's a lot more calming to come home to a clean house.

Credit

Do you know what happened to a lot of people last month?  The credit card bills from all the Christmas shopping they did in December started coming in.   Were you one of those people?  If so, were you shocked when you realized how much money you actually spent?

Thankfully, we don't have credit cards, so we did all our shopping with cash.  That means no credit card bills, and no surprises.  But, it also means that we have a hard time getting credit.  For instance, we tried to qualify for one of those instant refund loans for our taxes.  We were denied because we don't have current credit.  The tax lady actually recommended getting a card to buy groceries, and then paying the entire balance at the end of each month.  The question is, which card is the best for us?

I like finding websites that let you compare all the different features of several different cards so that you can make an informed decision.  For us, getting a card with 0 apr on balance transfer isn't a priority, because we don't have any balances to transfer to a new card. For people with a lot of credit card debt, this might be something that they want to look into.  Saving money is hard, and paying less each month in interest is always a good thing. I think what will work best for us would be a low interest rate, though I'm pretty sure that with our not so great credit score, we will only qualify for cards with high interest rates.

The good thing is, we are taking steps to correct our credit standing.  I know that it's not something we can change overnight.  It's going to take a while, and we have to make sure we are diligent in our monthly payments.  The goal is to get better credit, not get buried in debt.

Credit Cards For Someone Like Me

Do you know what your credit score is? I am not sure of our exact number, but I do know it is nowhere near where we want it to be. We got in trouble years ago with a couple of credit cards and have been working hard get out credit rating back up. It is a long process, but we are making progress, slowly but surely.

We have been talking lately about getting a new credit card. The problem is finding credit cards for people with bad credit. We don't want to pay a high interest rate, but we don't qualify for the low rates. I know we will have to get one eventually to help rebuild our credit standing, and creditcardmix.com has a card for people like us.

Check Your Credit

Junior and I have lousy credit. The past couple of years we have been working towards getting back on track, and I think we are finally making some progress. For years, we didn't have any type of back account, and our finances were a mess. We now have a checking account, and are working towards applying for a credit card. I found this site where you can do a general credit check just by answering a few generic questions. I did it, and was told I have fair credit. This is a big step up from the horrible credit we have had in the past. Of course, for an accurate credit score, I would have to give more personal information. They did, however, show me the credit card offers that cater to people with fair credit. The only bad thing is that I am sure that our interest rate would be extremely high.

At cardhub.com, you can also buy gift cards, or read informative articles that give you tips to improving your credit score, or that explain all things related to credit cards like transfer fees and identity theft. Plainly put, you can find out just about everything you want to know about credit cards in one place.

Credit Card Information

Having good credit is so important these days. It helps you get the lowest payment deals when buying things like cars or homes, and having bad credit can prevent you from getting certain jobs. Using your credit cards wisely can be difficult, especially with so many out there offering different things. It can be overwhelming trying to decide which is the best for you. At DealsForCreditCards.com, you can compare different credit cards side by side, so you can see which is the best card for your needs. Personal credit cards differ from business credit card, so if you are looking for a credit card for your business, make sure you fill out a business credit card application.

I was browsing around their site, and found an article about credit cards for people with bad credit, and it was very informative. It explains how people with bad credit end up with crads with higher interest rates, and that's only if they qualify. Most times, it's easier to get a secured, or prepaid card. This would be the type of card I would need. I wish I knew years ago how much bad credit can have an impact on your life. My husband and I are working hard to repair our credit, but life would be so much easier if we never let it get as bad as it is in the first place.
