I can not believe it is almost spring. The weather here has been very pleasant. For the past week or so, I have had the windows open every day, letting in the beautiful fresh air and sunshine. Sure, it is still pretty chilly at night, but that's okay. I know that in a couple of weeks, the nice weather will be here to stay.
I have been trying to think of ways to make my yard a little prettier, because right now it is a mixture of grass and dirt. Last year at this time, I had already started my seeds for my garden. This year, I can't do that, because I am not allowed to plant a garden here. I was thinking of planting some herbs, and maybe a tomato plant, in some window boxes, but I am not sure which window to put the box on. One side of my house gets sunlight all day, but the kitchen window is on the opposite side. Would it look tacky if I had an herb garden outside of my living room window?
Then I got to thinking of maybe using PVC planters for my tomato plants. I could put them on my front porch, that way they wouldn't be in the way when the maintenance man mows the grass. I think that is the main reason we can't have a traditional garden. It would be too difficult for him to mow around. I am also convinced that if I planted some flower bulbs, he would mow those over too.
I found some really pretty window box planters for the house, and they are no rot. They are not made of wood, but they can still be painted to match the house. Our siding is tan, and our shutters are a deep burgundy color. I would paint the boxes the burgundy color, and then plant all different kinds of purple flowers in them.
Junior will be happy that I didn't paint the window boxes purple, because that is something that I would totally do.
